All our shipyards are packed to full now . Reasons why GOI wanted to upgrade GSL to next level and with this deal they are getting their first big ship and they can join likes of HSL and MDL slowly in future .

Sabotage your own industry to boost a power in decline? Makes sense to geniuses in Delhi

L&T has a good track record of delivering stuff, even ships.
Its really no brainer once the lead ships are done and imports are secured. However carriers are massive and they need crew in thousands, basing needs, ground support and escorts and without all these planned, no hurry in building it up in short amount of time. Anyone working in manufacturing or any plant setting side of production knows what goes into stuff like this.....pros talk logistics in military and civilian

And they need Russian hand holding to do that? Give them a P17A order and they’ll upgrade accordingly

It’s like the talk of giving HAL the KA226 contract so they can expand helicopter production when they are already making ALH at scale and will happily do so with LUH if given large orders.

there is something very rotten inside the decision making infrastructure of India.

make in India/atmanbharat are just PR/marketing terms, the ground reality hasn’t changed one bit.

trying to buy off powers like Russia by buying their obsolete junk is true slave mentality that the likes of Saudis, Egypt, Pakistan etc engage in not a nation that claims it aspires to be a great power and wants a seat at the big table.

nations like Turkey and S.Korea have more backbone and self-respect than India in this regard.

What happened to ka-226 or ak-201? Don't believe all you hear or see, both domestic and imports.....our domestic heli share is growing in some segments and started to enter into other segments, this is the reality and the upgrades are coming healthy too....does not mean we have the best product for all needs and missions, imports may fit a niche in the same segment for some needs and that does not mean its sabotage.

Not in case of big boats they can't bid as much as PSU.
They supply parts that's what they are good at. Maybe a decade later they can scale up.

Right now no Private ones can scale it, better give it to GRSE they are as good as any Pvt counterparts.

Also there is kind of a trust factor with L&T. Pretty rare, with Adani, Ambani all that in India.
That is true, L&T does quality work by Indian standards and corruption is kept away at the minimal levels as system forces it....Ambanis and Adanis are more politically connected to their taste but Ambanis have been fairly good to the country....no need to villify them

I ain't villifying them but that doesn't mean others don't. And when they do, it causes problems.

Can't do anything with that. Even now if you give a follow on order of same size second Vikrant class carrier then again they will take more than 10 yrs despite having all know how and technology to make it.

Something with Indian manufacturing we can get away with. :frusty:
10 years ago we found roads and export infrastructure to be so sub standard, that if you compare today with those days then this delay is justified. The next same type if made; will take 4 years as promised by CSL when the after complete kit (metal, engines, electronics, etc) is assembled at the CSL dry docks to be made.

Commerical orders like?
The only PSU good in shipbuilding imo is GRSE
Orders from other customers like tankers , cruise ships , container ships etc etc

If a shipyard has large commercial business they have to create a large ecosystem to support it , lead time for supplies from suppliers gets cut down drastically since orders are huge , also money is then available to build suitable infrastructure to sustain high build rate , plus manpower increases with 3 or 4 shifts to sustain the build rates .

Long story short commercial profits from large continuous orders incentivises higher capabilities which than is reflected in defence related build times too

Guys i think the mfstar is covered by some grey fabric which is why we couldnt see it properly from the outside....the patterns seems to be creases from folds

View attachment 96934
Compare this to the MF-STAR panel on the P15As, this seems slightly concave where as they are re convex on the 15As, the closeup here makes me think even more that the panels aren’t installed which seems bizarre at this late stage and with all the other sensors

Id like to be proven wrong

Much of the early sea trails will be about validating the basics like hull integrity and writing SOPs so the work up will be long and they likely won’t be getting to combat systems and sensors for many months after commencing sea trails but still is odd that they haven’t fitted them yet.
