technology wise it is more advanced than chinese aircraft carriers. It has better engines and better weaponry / electronics. These kinda news is getting stale. This building of ship in from 2009 to 2021 just proves Indian ship building manufacturing sucks. To get a carrier right whole lots of wheel has to work to get it done. And it won't be ready till 2023 atleast. Navy would be getting an 15 year old hull as a new ship. And techs developed in the last decade will be found wanting.

Just because his username is after the conqueror of sri vijaya , doesn't mean he heads the naval department in chola government .It took the Cholas 80-100 to reach a stage where they had the most powerful navy in the Indian Ocean.
In half that time, India will go from a pathetic small, brown water navy to the third strongest naval force in the entire world, with 3-4 carriers, nuclear subs, LHDs, large destroyers etc
And all this time I thought I was a dry patch of land in Rajasthan with Sunny paji striding around with his angry face and Jackie Sheriff going "yeh shubah kyun nahin Hoti"Just because his username is after the conqueror of sri vijaya , doesn't mean he heads the naval department in chola government .

Flashback.India's indigenous aircraft carrier to sail by 2011: Indian Navy chief
NEW DELHI: Progressing towards self-reliance in the defence industry, India's first indigenous aircraft carrier will be in the waters by 2011,
Indian Navy chief Admiral Sureesh Mehta said Wednesday.
The under-construction aircraft carrier will be ready in two years.
"Our indigenous aircraft carrier is being constructed in Kochi. It has been three years since the work started. On Feb 28, what we call keel laying of the carrier will take place," Mehta told reporters here.
The building of a ship can be divided into seven phases: design, construction planning, work prior to keel laying, ship erection, launching, final outfitting, and sea trials.
"Many of the parts have already been constructed. My estimate is that it should be in the water in two years," Mehta said.
The aircraft carrier is expected to have 40,000 tonne displacement capacity at an estimated cost of Rs.3,000 crore (Rs.30 billion).
The Indian Navy is currently operating only one full deck aircraft carrier, the INS Viraat, also the only one being operated by a country in Asia or Western Pacific. In a bid to become a true-blue water navy, the Indian Navy is expected to operate three aircraft carriers by 2015.

On what basis? Designs were frozen long before 2009. Yes you can tweak it here and there on the go, but can't do wholesome changes. Most likely as soon as they are in, they would have go to MLU. Chinese carriers started construction only after 2017. Naturally they would have latest tech however ineffective they may be compared to the west.technology wise it is more advanced than chinese aircraft carriers. It has better engines and better weaponry / electronics.
It is because of technology infusion from West and russia that it got delayed. Anyway this was a learning curve first big vessel we ever built .
Sri Vijaya was conquered by my son Rajendra. though I laid the foundation for all that.Just because his username is after the conqueror of sri vijaya , doesn't mean he heads the naval department in chola government .
I did not talk about IN here. But rather the sucking manufacturing capabilities of Indian ship building yards where it takes eons to manufacture anything. With our huge resources we should be competing with Korea on shipbuilding. But due to poor manufacturing process, our naval shipbuilding suffers. It took the Cholas 80-100 to reach a stage where they had the most powerful navy in the Indian Ocean.
In half that time, India will go from a pathetic small, brown water navy to the third strongest naval force in the entire world, with 3-4 carriers, nuclear subs, LHDs, large destroyers etc
I think this IAC manufacturing is one of the prime reasons why GoI is hesitant even to order another replica of the INS Vikrant or even home design 20k tonnes troop carriers. Unlike subs where we have to design some stuffs from scratch, or get from Russia or even steal, surface ship building uses techs from existing commercial shipbuilding contractors. Proving they are not upto task in taking India onto big leagues.Flashback.
In 2009, it was expected that the AC would be inducted by 2011, not 2021, and that we would have three AC's by 2015. Dear God.
Radars done looks like.check the first pic btw ins vikrant hai
How many LHDs? We have only 1 and plans for 4 have been halved to 2.It took the Cholas 80-100 to reach a stage where they had the most powerful navy in the Indian Ocean.

We have 0 lhd....jalaswa is lpdHow many LHDs? We have only 1 and plans for 4 have been halved to 2.
Oh, thanks for reminding me.We have 0 lhd....jalaswa is lpd
True, and I suspect the navy would prefer to have the third proper aircraft carrier, nuclear subs and even minehunters ahead of those LHDsHow many LHDs? We have only 1 and plans for 4 have been halved to 2.
Governement should monetize some assets like highways etc with which NHAI is earning and when NHAI will not need this much money as at a time our infra needs will reach a point that we’ll need less money for infra construction and the high amount of infra constructed will give a lot of money through monetization of those assets.True, and I suspect the navy would prefer to have the third proper aircraft carrier, nuclear subs and even minehunters ahead of those LHDs
