Especially a LOL sized 40k ton pocket aircraft carrier, shooting half oayloas Mig-29 from sky-jump... IAF infrastructure A&N will decide who dominates the MalaccaI doubt the aircraft carriers will decide the next war.
If India is to protect its territory (including A&N islands), the best strategy is to build more military airports that have below ground aircraft shelters and ammo depots.
India should look for allies, not carriers.
Basically you can't commission an aircraft carrier with 12 months sea trial. It's not a corvette or frigate. There are many systems to be tested, especially those working for aircrafts.Mee too a noob in naval systems, but my understanding is ,it is currently tested without its own power, meaning tugs will tow them for the current trials phase.
Next year she'll be expected to sail the oceans under her own power
Basin trials next month, sea sorties early next year and delivery by October-November 2021.
Don’t underestimate carriersEspecially a LOL sized 40k ton pocket aircraft carrier, shooting half oayloas Mig-29 from sky-jump... IAF infrastructure A&N will decide who dominates the Malacca
She’ll be formally commissioned in late 2022/early 2023After reading first message and last message felt really disheartening as we are decade late in achieving our Target.Still not war ready till 2025.
And this was the plan before COVID, add 6-8 months on top now. What is Basin Trial?
It involves the testing of machinery and equipment on board the ship in floating conditions before it goes in for sea trials.
The flight trials for the IAC-1 are going to start only when the IAC-1 which is named INS Vikrant is delivered to the Indian Navy. Before the flight trials the aviation facility complex and making the ships ready for flight trials.
In December Naval Chief Admiral Karmbir Singh had said that all issues related to ship build issues were all addressed and soon the trials would start and that the Indian Navy will take the delivery by February-March 2021.” Adding “the IAC-1 Vikrant will be fully operational by 2022.”

The builders let all ships rust before final abrasive sceub & paintjob... Rust is a great protective coating.Already seems to be rusting from the sides ?
Why not Keep ships sinked in water. More protective layering that way.The builders let all ships rust before final abrasive sceub & paintjob... Rust is a great protective coating.
Given that the third carrier has been put off, when will this happen? Makes more sense to build landbased runways near important areasWith 5-6 India can dominate the IOR quite easily
Because, underwater construction work will be too costly. Why not Keep ships sinked in water. More protective layering that way.
