The pintel mounted MG requirement should be easy to install.
The pintle mount has already been successfully integrated and tested on Rudra.

Regarding LUH..

As for the LUH, I expect that ground testing will begin in early 2014. Engine selection was an issue; however we have now identified the partner and are going ahead with techno-commercial negotiations. The complete design of the LUH has been frozen, the first Ground Test Vehicle (GTV) has just come off the jigs and the structure is completely ready. Manufacture of the rotor and transmission is underway and a lot of testing has to take place. We have to produce the specimens, do component testing, coupon testing and then the full fatigue testing as the rotor is very critical. The rotor has been cast and root segments have been made, the fatigue tests and specimen tests are commencing simultaneously. The gearbox castings are ready and getting machined. We have invested almost Rs 10 crore and set up a rapid prototyping facility.

We are looking at the LCH attaining Initial Operational Capability (IOC) by end 2014

Also regarding the ALH on Vikramaditya, there's a picture posted in this thread of the same. You might be interested to see :)

@abingdonboy

Sorry i gave you the wrong link. Check post #118 on page 8 in the same thread :)
Well damn! I am VERY happy to be proven wrong !! :shocked:

Still isn't clear if these were simply familiarisation touch and gos or whether ALHs will actually be operated off and embarked on the Viky. My understanding is the INAS 322 is purely a shore-based SAR SQD.

I think these were just for familarisation probably meant for the flight operation/maintainance crew on Viky to learn about N-Dhruv. The picture seems to be taken during the Western fleet naval exercise that Viky participated in and many news articles reported that exercise :)

what is INSA 322 ,I never found it except here and that too yesterday
Dhruv in SAR role, one of the few helicopters in the world to have that capability over sea the name of the squadron is INAS 322. The squadron will call themselves "Guardians" with the credo "Search Fearlessly, Rescue Valiantly" signifying their primary role of SAR. The commissioning ceremony was held at INS Garuda, the Naval Air Station and mother base of INAS 322.

Modi to start defence tour with INS Vikramaditya

Prime Minister Narendra Modi's first visit to a military establishment will be a grand show of national power as he is set to visit the newly-acquired INS Vikramaditya aircraft carrier next weekend.

This would be the first visit of a national leader to the largest and most powerful warship of the Indian Navy that made its journey from Russia in December, and would also be the first public display of the aircraft carrier's capabilities.

Sources said the PM has expressed a desire to visit the ship and the Navy is making arrangements for him to embark with a team over the weekend of June 14-15.

During the visit, Modi will be shown the operational capabilities of the carrier, including take-offs and landings by the MiG 29 K fighters on the ship.
While the final details are being worked out, Modi is expected to be on the warship off the western coast for a few hours. The INS Vikramaditya is the most powerful symbol of India's military reach and is designed to undertake strike missions across the world. It undertook a non-stop journey from North Russia's Severodvinsk to Mumbai in November-December last year.

Sources said Modi is also likely to visit the eastern and northern borders in the coming weeks. It is believed the Army is already drawing up plans for his visit to the eastern border, with likely areas being discussed. Similarly, plans for a visit to the northern borders are also afoot, but it is not yet clear if the visit will include the Siachen Glacier.

As reported by The Indian Express last week, the INS Vikramaditya is finally battle ready. Navy Chief Admiral Robin Dhowan had said the aircraft carrier is fully operational with an adequate number of pilots now qualified to operate from the floating airfield. He said pilots have been conducting regular flying operations.

Meanwhile, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley's first visit to a defence establishment too would involve the Navy, as he is scheduled to be in Mumbai on Saturday, where he will visit India's other operational aircraft carrier, the INS Viraat. Jaitley will also be the chief guest at the commissioning ceremony of the Indian Coast Guard ships Achook and Agrim in Mumbai.

Vice Admiral Sinha said that in the Navy, Dhruv helicopters has transformed into an advanced search and rescue (SAR) helicopter also used for missions like heliborne operations, and armed patrol with night vision devices. Such machines in the inventory have become imperative for the Navy given the scenario of low intensity maritime operations (LIMO) and coastal security construct
He also expressed satisfaction that the ALH would beef up the coast security architecture.

The squadron will call themselves "Guardians" with the credo "Search Fearlessly, Rescue Valiantly" signifying their primary role of SAR

Pretty clear cut- INAS 322 is a SHORE-BASED SAR SQD who will undertake some coastal security operations when necessary. Nowhere is it mentioned they will be based on ships- certainly not the Viky and it is pretty obvious they have 0 ASW capability.

Yeah fair enough, I've seen this now. More than likely these were familiarisation flights for the pilots to get used to the Viky. I highly doubt they will be embarked on the Viky- this would go against the INAS 322's own mandate.

You first have to understand how things work ..

===============

Its call rotation, This unit in not dedicated land based unit but they move from one base to another time to time, Their mother base is over land where their HQ is, like many other units in Navy ..

Before Viki they were assigned over Virrat, Conduction Search and rescue and they are doing the same on Viki and will be on it for next few months if not in Years like in Army ..
