Delhi- Kidwai Nagar, Kathputli slum redevelopment
Hmm yes but I'm more inclined towards redeveloping blocks which are mostly densely packed 2 to 3 floors houses with shops and everything.
Like this.

Ya'll Nibbiars Mulund, Nodes of Navi Mumbai, Mira Road an entire city, Navi Mumbai Gaothan, Aurangabad CIDCO, Dhule, Etc.
All the places you gave mentioned have lots of open spaces with old building not necessarily poorly planned blocks.
I am talking about something akin to Easten Waterfront project of Mumbai.

FYI there is Agra Air Force base in vicinity so anything larger than 10 floors won't be allowed anyway.
There is the Tajmahal angle of course
What is even the need of an airbase in Agra.
It should be demolished.
All cantonment areas in several cities should be redeveloped, they are occupying prime land without much use

These cantonment are only few green spaces in cities. Otherwise government can't even build proper parks for people.

Problem with massive redevelopment is that our real estate sector still hasn't completely recovered from the 2008 crash.
On top of this you have thousands of half built flats in Noida and nearby areas which were built before RERA. Most developers are either bankrupt or don't have the money. Even GOI doesn't have this kind of money.

Need to somehow invite FDI into this sector. Trillions to be made

So what is the difference between RRTS, Metro and Rail?
Metro: Intra-city commute, air conditioned rakes. Also connects satellite cities (like Delhi-Noida, Kolkata-Howrah).

RRTS: Regional transit system for Inter-city commute. Like intercity locals but with AC rakes and high frequency.

Suburban Rail: A substandard service operated by IR. Ride the local trains only if you have no option/money or want to travel in subhuman conditions.

No I'm talking about the logistics specifically type of track, power system, bogie type and capacity.

Track: Metro systems use a mix of broad and standard gauges. RRTS in NCR uses standard gauge. Important thing is that metros and RRTS trains will always have right of way.

Capacity: Metro rakes are smaller than normal IR rakes (independent of track gauge). Locals are 3.6m wide while metros can be 2.8m to 3.2m wide. Locals are 12 cars long while metros are 6-8 cars long. RRTS rake is 6 cars long.

Signalling: Metro systems use CBTC or TPWS. RRTS will use ETCS level 2.

Power system: Metro systems use 750 V DC, third rail or 25 kV, 50Hz OHE. RRTS uses 25 kV, 50 Hz OHE like main line.

and then you have pajeets like this who will gladly ignore 99.999999% of Indian streets and focus on the 10 roads in the entire country that doesnt resemble a 4th world slum and claim everything is good. Ruling India must be the easiest job in the world. People have literally 0 expectations and you dont need to deliver anything either.

^ this is the funniest tweet in the thread. Posts a picture literally proving the point and claims it looks good :crying::crying::crying:
