Mumbai to Pune flight cost is 2000 to 4000.
So Bullet Train fare should be less than that to justify a new line.
Usually that is the case. Besides, a lot of EU nations (and India does not) have the luxury of some extremely cheap flights. A flight between Barcelona and Paris could cost as low as $10-11 pre covid. Also, many flights are regularly delayed in India (for a lot of obvious reasons/restrictions). Besides, last mile connectivity is a problem in a lot of airports. There are loopholes to be exploited by HSRs/SHSRs.

Nitin Gadkari sitting inside Kia Carnival with that contractor and the contractor driving it at 160kmph in an under construction road, was not safe in my opinion

Both. They have a policy that lets operators compete freely all across EU. Extreme competition pushes the price down; meaning the operators compete between extremely low profit margins. Apart from this there is also competition from HSRs and low cost coach/express bus services.

Ya'll Nibbiars Flight from Mumbai to Belgaon cost 2,000 rupees. The ticket of a High Speed Rail on this route would be 1,400 rupees. A bus fares are from 700 to 1,000 depending on the seasons. The flight takes 1 hours plus one hour at the airport. The bus takes 8 hours. The High speed rail should take 2 hours to reach. And current trains takes 11 hours to reach and ticket around 700 rupees.

Need 3 rupees per kilometers to run at minimums profibility. The High Speed Rail will kill the Short range aviation routes as would be cheaper and same time taken.

Ya'll Nibbiars not lower the bus fairs but stabel. That will happen. The Atal Bihari Vajpee's National Highaways alreday achieved that the Expresway will further stabilize that's.

what if there was bus service on elevated expressways where motorhomes could be hired by a family for journey from say delhi to mumbai. it would be a scenic journey for 12 hours or so especially in the monsoon season. driver and food will be arranged by the bus company itself.
