Posting this here since there is a commie narrative that PM is responsible for everything. fact is majority of accountability & responsibility of public services we interact with in our daily lives, is far below in the hierarchy.

PM is responsible through his ministers. Culpability lies where there is no accountability. His ministers are a failing bunch, ultimately the responsibility does in fact lie on him.

it does not happen like that even in the country you live mate, in your case most of the public utilities are handled by private companies which is not the case in India.

lack of understanding of how governance is structured cannot be a basis for baseless exaggerated expectations.

People need to know the block adhikaris of their area, then the DM, MLA, MP and so on.
People directly tag PMO on twitter because yesterday their car had puncture! on the gully roads.

This nepali ass is burning too much after consuming lot of momos chutney.
Even developed small island countries got fckd by covid and that too without delta variant ... We saw power like usa uk fckd by alpha variant ... wht was expected frm india with 1.3 billion people ..
China was regularly smashed by many people in recognized newspapers in 90s and it continued for 2 decades untill it all became unpalatable .. Like china india also has strategic enemies and people who wants india to fail at any costs .. Hopefully these people ll stay alive till 2040 and we ll also ..

Nepal is bordered by bihar and up rural areas . So they have image of underdevelopment in india . Its all about conformation bias .. nothing academic .
That's one view but in genera, India does not have a feeling of developed country in any view....airports certainly got better a little bit but shit on railway tracks, dust every where...oceans of plastic trash on roads and highways and just about everywhere....no respect for zoning, driving haphazardly even in laned highways and so on....it just has slum feeling as people are slum minded and educated are the ones that are the worst....rural used to be mostly clean until the plastic came along

Bio toilet has been installed in every train .

No dust is not everywhere ! India is not delhi or kanpur .. Its too big to generalize .

Local bodies have even started picking up waste in sub urban areas . India has changed alot in last decade . And it ll continue to change .

This negetive perceptions and self hatered is result of cultural marxism which does nt provide any sollution but find out more problem and generalize ... Because focus is not on sollution focus is on revolution... activism .. This mentality is the reason for selective exodus of talents frm india.. Recent covid coverage by indian and global media is example .. everyone fckd up but in the end indians were made to be ashamed ..

No self hatred, he just pointed out how and why we still have a long way to go.

Let's not compare ourselves to any other nation.

There is tremendous scope for improvement here because though Govt. does quite a bit, Indian's in general lack civic sense and it is beyond debate. Let's not do an equal-equal with China or Pakistan or Bangladesh here.

That Nepali author has pathological hatred leave him aside but some points regarding India's under development because of Visuals are valid...Some things which will resolve the issue....

a) Mumbai Slums.......Slum rehab is happening but not in full scale. Mumbai needs to get its image cleared first rest of India will follow.
b) City Zoning as pointed out is important we need more cities newly built with streets at 90 degree intersection. Hap hazard planning should be stopped through Laws. Delimit the city at rural urban fringe and then pass a rule that land can only be sold to a development authority who would do proper zoning.
c) We have cities which can never be retrofitted. We need new sister cities. Varanasi's crowded area can never be rectified unless major demolition is done. Big cities can start Block level revamp like what NYC did.
d) Invest more in Waste recycling, criminalize trash throwing, have more toilets in cities at near distances.

Many more but at least we can start from above.

Developed in a sense what yo?
view....airports certainly got better
Airport are hardly an indicator of development and prosperity.
little bit but shit on railway tracks,
That thing has stopped after Swach Bharath abhiyan, only s handful of people do it now.
dust every where
We are a developing country dust is a result of that, we are geographically located in a region where u will have crosswinds for three months so more dust. In general aside from Delhi, Rajasthan, UP, Bihar none other have dust problems of this magnitude.
where...oceans of plastic trash on roads and highways and just about everywhere...
That yes.
None existent regulation of plastics, improper waste management and the Attitude of people is the cause for this.
no respect for zoning, driving haphazardly even in laned highways and so on
Eh driving is the last thing u must think about.

It is not self hatred, it is a fact that even poorer countries like Cambodia are cleaner than India....I have seen south, north, west and not much of east other than Bihar and literally traveled interiors that most would probably never even think....dust is everywhere and rivers and river banks are natural disposal for trash and I do agree toilets are bit better but men pee whereever they want like they can't hold or its just their birth right and in UP spitting is big time with tobacco chewing....85% country has a feel of run down....I don't know why....when I was growing up rural had a character and now rural are mini slums with no harmony in zoning

People not having civic sense in general...politeness and courteasy is non existent....this is the biggest differentiator in developed vs other countries and rest like hygiene and cleanliness kinda follows that
Airport are hardly an indicator of development and prosperity.
Just an example comparing to world as there is not much to compare in man made things especially modern era post independence

Been to South America and Africa too....much arid and poor but feel is different, granted there are some parts literally that one can't comprehend in Africa. Most problems in India is not showing respect for basic laws like zoning and civic sense and respect for public/private property. Any one that knows construction code will know that most things are explicitly specified....I would say its getting a bit better but at this rate its hardly progress....civic sense needs to be prioritized in new 2021 education reform and employment with mandatory participations and what not in keeping stuff clean
That yes.
None existent regulation of plastics, improper waste management and the Attitude of people is the cause for this.
Govt can only do so much....most of it is individual responsibility. People litter from car rather than waiting till they go home or someplace to discard...these are mostly educated young and old
Eh driving is the last thing u must think about.
Road or signalling dhang ke Nahi he
Talking about 4 lane highways....India has weird way of driving in laned highways that you will not find in any country....we perfect the art of complicating things...only country where you will see so many trucks with busted tail lights.....all these things are connected and point to lack of accountability as an individual and total disregard for laws, others safety and so on....completely animalistic behavior in a sense....this is not the legacy of Sanatana philosophy which makes a point in every ritual to clean inner and outer bodies symbolically (pranayama and achaman)

Most unclean countries in the world are probably Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, India in the world in my opinion

Cambodia has different climate condition than say Bihar, more rain and Evergreen vegetation other than that it does not have as much construction work going on as here.
U see Indian being dusty can't be helped much it has always been with the exception of few regions

Natural dust is different from man induced ones....for instance when I was in the US, in Nevada and some other places dust does make it on to roads but its a different feel. In cambodia, people do exhibit cleanliness even those selling 1$ juice on the sidewalk....reason tourism is how they survive and govt enforces it pretty well and people learned to stick with it naturally....swachh bharat was a good idea but its a mystery why individuals can't sustain it? People need to be shamed and penalized for some behaviours

“clean cities” come at a cost, that cost is ultimately paid for by citizens. cost is either paid for by the urban local bodies or by citizens themselves by way of fines.

in small tourism based countries this cost is usually paid for by govt as an investment into the tourism industry, more clean the tourist places more potential revenues from tourism.

In large western cities, this cost is paid for either by debt or costly public amenities. either way the citizen pays, there by driving up the cost of living.

in India’s case, our USP is low cost of living, hence less money is available to keep the place clean. a section of society do keep their surroundings clean, but it is largely limited to gated communities and within apartment compound. this category of society is usually middle class. so the argument can be made that cleanliness in India will increase as more and more people get into middle class.
