Noida authority is hell bent on making money even in tough times! Let them give some more time to complete the project!

For the expressways like Mumbai-Delhi expressway:

I wonder what would happen if there are dedicated freight trucks running exclusively on the expressway, they will just pick up container at one end of expressway and deliver to the other end. both orgin and destination will have a port for “transshipment” of containers for local distribution to last mile.

This way the trucks can be fully optimised for expressways, without having to bother about rest of the traffic conditions trucks are usually engineered for. there by leading to more energy efficiency.

NHAI to Develop Over 600 Wayside Amenities Along National Highways

In a major move to improve commuters’ experience on National Highways for both, passengers and truckers, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) will develop world class ‘Wayside Amenities’ at more than 600 locations across 22 states along the National Highways in the next five years. Out of these, 130 are targeted for development in 2021-22. NHAI has already invited bids to develop 120 such wayside amenities. As per plan, wayside amenities will be developed every 30-50 km along the current and upcoming Highways and Expressways.

The amenities will include numerous facilities for passengers such as Fuel Station, Electric Charging Facilities, Food Court, Retail Shops, ATM, Toilets with shower facility, Children Playing Area, Clinic, Village Haat for local handicrafts etc.

Keeping in view the specific requirements of truckers, separate ‘Truckers Blocks’ will be developed at large amenities that will include Truck and Trailer Parking, Auto Workshop, Truckers Dormitory, Cooking and Washing area, Toilets with shower, Clinic, Eateries, Retail shops etc.

The facilities such as Electric charging stations will help in promoting use of electric vehicles, thus, reducing pollution. The amenities will also promote local economy by generating employment opportunities and help local people to market their unique produce/ handicrafts etc. at village haats developed at the amenities.

NHAI will develop these wayside amenities across the country with a combined area of over 3,000 hectares. These will offer huge opportunities for investors, developers, operators and retailers. Currently, NHAI is offering Wayside Amenities on Public Private Partnership model for development and operation on existing highways.

All upcoming greenfield/brownfield National Highway projects will be provisioned to have wayside amenities and logistic parks. NHAI has started Land identification & monetization plan for development and real estate consultants have been engaged for designing of the amenities after studying the local suitability.

These wayside amenities will not only go a long way in making highway travel more convenient for commuters but also will provide adequate facilities for rest and refreshment to Highway users.

NHAI contractor creates World Record for maximum amount of road-paving concrete laid in 24 hours

An NHAI contractor has created a World Record for the laying of Pavement Quality Concrete (PQC) for a four-lane highway of 2,580 meters length within 24 hours. Starting at 8 am on 1st February, 2021, they finished the job, totalling 2,580 meters X 4 lanes i.e. approximately 10.32 lane kilometres by 8 am next morning. With a width of 18.75 meters, as much an area as 48,711 square meters of concrete was laid for the expressway in 24 hours. The highest quantity of concrete laid in 24 hours – 14,613 Cubic Meter was also achieved.

The feat by the contractor – Patel Infrastructure Limited-has been recognized by both the India Book of Records, and the Golden Book of World Records.

The record is part of the greenfield Delhi-Vadodara-Mumbai 8-lane Expressway project, and was carried out by the world’s largest fully automatic ultra-modern concrete paver machine.

The feat comes in the backdrop of the Ministry having constructed 8,169 km of National Highways (NHs) from April 2020 to 15 January 2021 in the current financial year 2020-21, i.e. with a speed of about 28.16 km per day. During the same period in the last fiscal, 7,573 km roads were constructed, with a speed of 26.11 km per day.The Ministry is hopeful that with such pace it should be able to cross construction target of 11,000 km by 31 March.

When will we have enough road infra that we won't need more roads and focus on maintenance and diverting funds to other sectors
Never.
First they are connecting national highways as high priority
Second is State Highways
Third is district level highway

Once Road is done money will be spent in maintaining them

By 2030 we will collect 40 to 50 billion from toll tax alone.

Until the day comes when you don’t have to slow down while passing thru village or a town on a national highway, anywhere in the country.

and there is a requirement of atleast 40,000 km of expressways in the country.
