All mega infra projects seem to happening in the north, modiji south ko bhool gaye kya?

other than Polavaram in andhra and mission Bhagirathi in Telangana, I am not aware of any mega projects in south.
Possible reasons for this.
>We aren't looking enough, since even a medicore infra project is big deal for the north but may be a minor achievement in the South.
>U have already seen the drama done by Southern parties, they cant keep their ego aside to work in tandem with the center.
>South already has megastructure and industrial corridors all that has to be done is expand upon them. For north it is building shit and for south it is inviting business and expansion in already made infra.
>Also maybe flooding the thread with development news from the north might have caused a misconception in your mind. Because South has Sagarmala a multi billion dollar infra project which dwarves any infra project in the North. U have Roadmala connecting various Southern Industrial corridor.

Here is some 500 Big and Small infra project in Karnataka

Infra Project

Its all about Perception.

A Rose growing in a desert is a sight to behold, a orchard growing in a rainforest is an irrelevant affair

Anything including high speed rails? Instead of coal, they should go nuclear and try to collaborate with the government on this as well. Nuclear power, HSR (link Bangalore to Mumbai, Delhi, build rail out to south)

MoRTH constructs record 534km of national highways in a week!

1610973815126.png

The Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) has created a record by constructing 534 kilometres of National Highways (NHs) in the week that began January 8.

The Ministry has constructed 8,169km of National Highways from April 2020 to January 15, 2021 in the current financial year 2020-21, which translates into around 28.16km per day. During the same period in the last fiscal, 7,573km of roads or 26.11km per day were constructed,.

MoRTH says it is hopeful that with such a pace, it should be able to cross construction target of 11,000km by March 31.

The Ministry also awarded NH projects of 7,597 km during this period (April 2020 to 15 January 2021). In 2019-20, projects of 3,474km were awarded during the same period. Thus, the pace of award has also more than doubled this fiscal. In total, projects of 8,948km of roads were awarded in 2019-20 while 10,237 km of roads were constructed.

The achievement assumes significance given the fact that the first two months of the current fiscal were lost due to nationwide lockdown in the wake of Covid-19 pandemic.

Let's raise a toast to these guys! :daru:

Is this part of bharatmala or is this just maintenance of existing roads or is this a seperate road project.

Are the nhs and expressways of India constructed according to standards such that they don't have to repaired constantly due to low quality construction methods of smaller roads of India.

Just asking as in uae and other western countries the roads seem pretty solid and rarely deteriorate like local roads here except maybe in parts of usa and uk.

These are all separate road projects by the NHAI.

Where quality of these highways are concerned, a ranking system has been introduced based on the performance audit of roads constructed under the NHAI. The assessment parameters are based on different international practices and studies for bench-marking highway performances in the Indian context.

This process of ranking will bring out operational efficiency and ensure high quality maintenance of roads. In this, the contractor/ operator will get the opportunity to improve upon their ranking by improving the quality of roads and services on that corridor.

NTPC completes trial operation of Meja Thermal Power Project

NTPC has said that Unit-2 of 660 MW capacity of Meja Thermal Power Project of Meja Urja Nigam (P) Limited (MUNPL) has successfully completed trial operation

  • The Unit-1 of the thermal power project was declared commercially operational in April 2019
  • As soon as Unit-2 is declared commercially operational, the plant will be fully operational
Meja Thermal Power Project is a coal-based thermal power plant located in Meja Tehsil in Allahabad district, Uttar Pradesh. The planned capacity of the power plant is 1,320 MW (2x660MW). The project has its own 28-km freight corridor for transportation of critical materials, such as coal, to plant by rail. The plant is also connected to Ganga river at Bijora village, through a network of about 30-km pipeline, for the transportation of water for industrial purposes. Meja Thermal Power Station is UP’s first supercritical power plant (SCPP).
