during my travel at patna and nearby district i saw lots of land uncultivated so why Nitesh guv is not coming up with good plan for new airport is worth pondering
@Tshering22 The proposed international airport in Bihta is facing issues in land acquisition if bihar state government fails to acquire land in Bihta on time AAI should consider moving the airport to chhapra and Chhapra should be connected to patna with metro
Patna-Gaya and Patna-Kolkata High speed rail corridor can also provide some relief

A lot of that land is the floodplain of Ganga, stays submerged under water for 4-5 months every year, and they do plant some vegetables and watermelon in the sands when the water level is less. And Patna is the real estate black hole of Bihar, all the money- black and white gets invested in this one city only from the state. So most of the plots, apart from the river bank, are already sold to real estate deals.
They should do an embankment program along with dredging. And develop a state industrial development parcels across the outskirts with power and road connections but who am I kidding. Nitishwa is a lost cause now. He's happy with his caste politics+ relatively cleaner image than Lalu+ support from both upper castes (due to their repulsion of Lalu, Bhumihar dominance in JDU) and Muslims(he is fairly secular). The guy really started off well and gave hopes but then his work never really took off

the proposed bihta international airport requires a muslim village and a mosque to be displaced (to extend the runway of the airport) that might be the reason why nitish is reluctant

The old airport of Patna is crumbling with pressure it cannot handle the increasing air passenger traffic and the proposed 2nd International airport in Bihta is facing problems in land acquisition because of vote bank politics as it requires to displace a Muslim Village and a mosque
If Bihar state government fails to acquire land in Bihta it would be better to shift the airport to Chhapra and Connect Chhapra and Patna with Metro and Expressway
The 2nd option is to connect Patna and Bodhgaya with High Speed Bullet Metro and further expand the Bodhgaya International Airport
The Patna-Kolkata High Speed Rail Corridor can also Provide some relief
If this is the only reason, i don't know much about it in the first place, then it seems the incompetency of Nitish (JDU) who are the only guys who will do such outright appeasement of Muslims in the alliance and bjp being a party who only cares about being in power they are letting Nitish have its way (Yes, i know that bjp appeases too but their core support doesn't come from muslims but same can't be said about JDU).

I said it in the past and will repeat, it's a job of state government to reach a common consensus with the public, provide good incentives. Do they not realise that an international airport can be a boon to local economy too? Why state government didn't care to emphasize on it? Religion will be the easiest hitpoint but it's also the retardness of the state government if they can't get the public in confidence for a multibillion dollar project.

Bihar needs a young blood who is also competent enough, clearly bjp and jdu are not upto the task and unless someone musters enough balls, things will not change.

I do not expect anything out of Bihar anymore so it's irrelevant to ask my opinion
Bihar needs more @Chandragupt Maurya type autists and less @Bhumihar type doomers.

Bihar has no political leadership whatsoever in any party- all are same and useless

how is JDU gonna acquire land for Buxar-Bhagalpur , Raxaul-Haldia , Aurangabad-Darbhanga and Gorakhpur Silliguri Expressway ?
How are they gonna acquire land for high speed rail corridors and dedicated freight corridors with this kind of appeasement politics ?
and how can india match the infrastructure of china and USA when the land acquisition process alone is a herculean task
Centre Should intervene when the states fail to acquire land on time too much of democracy and federalism is not good

They are not. And Bihar will stay the way it if for the foreseeable future given the political leadership pipeline- Chirag Paswan, Tejaswi Yadav, BJP No one, JDU No one.
Nitish had solved the law and order problem of Bihar greatly in his first stint but he never went ahead to doing the next thing- Development. No vision, no policies- nothing. Just the usual affairs of the state- doling out freebies in whatever capacity they can, dilapidated infrastructure and no industrialisation and employment generation policies. Bihar could be an agri powerhouse but the government never had any vision. So, no positive hope for Bihar as of now- let's hope that something changes for good but the future looks very below average

if infrastructure in bihar doesnt improve then most of UP , Nepal and north east will remain backward
and with gigantic investments in infrastructure projects in tibbet and nepal by china , india will become more and more vulnerable to china today china is at the india china border in north east tomorrow they will reach india nepal border with millitary bases and robust infrastructure in nepal
Nepal needs robust connectivity with kolkata port via bihar if they dont get it trading via china will ultimately become more profitable for them because of improving technology and the infrastructure in tibbet (and hence decreasing cost of transportation)

They'll somehow make a route thru Bihar to go to Bengal and northeast but the development of Bihar as such looks difficult.

It’s a myth that economy of Bihar is going down same myth exists about Bengal
and UP being the fastest growing economy in India is also a myth it’s all media hype but thats a different topic altogether
improving the infrastructure in bihar is crucial not only for bihar but also for nepal and eastern up as both these regions need connectivity with kolkata port
and north east needs connectivity with delhi the gorakhpur silliguri expressway is a step towards that but all these projects require fast land acquisition in Bihar and Bengal

There's no myth that Bihar's economy is going down but an established fact that it's nowhere close to where it should be, by any metric.
Given your line of arguments (growth rate on a measly base) on the issue in the past, I would rather give the discussion a pass.

UP is again nowhere close but has all the components to develop- western part is fairly industrialised, and has a government that is willing to develop.

Bengal- its blamed not because it's value is less in absolute terms but in relative terms as a prospective growth engine for the eastern part of India(something that Guj and MH did for Western India, and TN did for southern India. Obviously other states in the South too joined). It had all the ingredients in the place at the time of independence- proximity to ports, proximity to iron and coal, abundance of water and other resources, an educated middle class with Engineers(very miniscule population at that time) and yet it fell prey to Communist BS. Its touted for performing average with above average potential.

Development means improvement in quality of life of people and that should be reflected in increasing average life expectancy and on that parameter Bengal indeed is more developed than Gujrat
GDP figures can be fake , artificially inflated and sometimes inaccurate but nothing defines quality of life as accurately as average life expectancy
purpose of creating infrastructure too is to increase average life expectancy
people can mock kerala for not having high gdp but the average life expectancy of kerala is highest in india that sums it all up

Have u ever been to Bihar? Answer me this.
Bihar state government has provided 108 acre land for Bihta airport but it has to provide additional 83
acres of land to make it suitable for international flights operation and runway expansion.
meanwhile as a temporary measure
upgradation of old airport of patna is underway which will increase its passenger handling capacity from 5 million per annum to 8 million per annum

Because Kerela lives with a very small population on huge remittance based economy????🤔 How's that model going to work for any other large state? That way, Goa is super cool with both per capita GDP and HDI performing fairly well but that model has no relevance for other states to emulate. Bengal has to become an industrial powerhouse- it staying a socialist heaven with cheap ration and a few government universities won't help

i dont think HDI accurately defines quality of life because it includes gdp per capita , number of years spent in schools and many other parameters which can be highly inaccurate
Average life expectancy along with infant and maternal mortality is the best parameter to judge the quality of life btw this thread is for infrastructure so i will stick to the topic
I was talking about Bihta international airport apart from making a new airport in patna AAI should also operationalize the proposed raxaul , purnia and bhagalpur airport as soon as possible these airports will not only decongest patna but will also earn revenue for bihar state government and central government
not to mention aviation sector is fastest growing sector in bihar (fastest in india growing at the rate of 40% per annum)

Socialism of kerala is supported by hyper capitalism of gulf and industries of other states in India . Keralites work hard in foreign countries and other state send back money . Add to that low fertility and tourism due tropical natural beauty . Leftist party had no role .
