Ya'll Nibbiars The West Bengal state urban development department has decided to build a 6-km-long flyover connecting Posta market to Ultadanga involving Rs 1,000 crore. It will bring down travel time between VIP Road and Howrah from almost an hour to barely 15 minutes. And It will start at Ultadanga and will run over CIT Road, Kankurgachi, Maniktala and Vivekananda Road before terminating at Posta market on Strand Road. An arm is also being planned to branch off at Kankurgachi and head towards Bengal Chemicals off EM bypass.

The project, which would ease traffic flow in north Kolkata, can overcome the challenges by proper planning. KMDA has engaged RITES to prepare a detailed project report. The state government is also reviving several other flyover proposals, including one on Syed Amir Ali Avenue and Prince Anwar Shah Road. Among the revived projects are flyovers from Park Circus to Gurusaday Datta Road in Ballygunge, Jadavpur police station to Lords Bakery; EM Bypass to New Town, Garia to Jadavpur and Jadavpur to Majerhat.

Ya'll Nibbiars The Afcons, the construction company involved in the Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway project, is expecting to complete the longest tunnel coming up on Samruddhi Mahamarg at Igatpuri in Nashik by the end of September 2021. This breakthrough makes the north portal connectivity to the south portal direct and seamless through the right hand side tunnel.

The company plans to achieve the final breakthrough by the end of September 2021 and complete both the tubes. This tunnel is part of the 13.10 km long Package-14 handled by Afcons for the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC). Out of the six tunnels to be constructed en-route the expressway, the 7.7 km twin tunnels between Kasara Ghat and Igatpuri will be the longest highway tunnel in Maharashtra.

The new expressway in Maharashtra begins in Shivmadka village in Hingna tehsil located at a distance of 23 km away from Nagpur. The expressway designed for a top speed of 150 km per hour is being built at a total cost of around Rs 55,000 crore. The corridor passes through several scenic landscapes, three wildlife sanctuaries as well as 35 wildlife focus areas, and a 310 mtr long high bridge crossing over river Wardha.

To protect the wildlife, measures such as undercrossing, overpasses, high box culverts are being developed to facilitate the movement of animals.

“Justification for the need of a semi high-speed rail corridor between Mumbai-Pune and Mumbai-Nagpur should be taken into consideration. Both Mumbai and Pune are well connected and if a passenger wants to travel to Nagpur in a short amount of time, then they could just travel by an airplane. The pricing of the tickets also needs to be inspected. The projects should be cross-examined to check if they are really necessary.” said urban planner Sulakshana Mahajan.

Usually that is the case. Besides, a lot of EU nations (and India does not) have the luxury of some extremely cheap flights. A flight between Barcelona and Paris could cost as low as $10-11 pre covid. Also, many flights are regularly delayed in India (for a lot of obvious reasons/restrictions). Besides, last mile connectivity is a problem in a lot of airports. There are loopholes to be exploited by HSRs/SHSRs.

Nitin Gadkari sitting inside Kia Carnival with that contractor and the contractor driving it at 160kmph in an under construction road, was not safe in my opinion

Both. They have a policy that lets operators compete freely all across EU. Extreme competition pushes the price down; meaning the operators compete between extremely low profit margins. Apart from this there is also competition from HSRs and low cost coach/express bus services.

Ya'll Nibbiars Flight from Mumbai to Belgaon cost 2,000 rupees. The ticket of a High Speed Rail on this route would be 1,400 rupees. A bus fares are from 700 to 1,000 depending on the seasons. The flight takes 1 hours plus one hour at the airport. The bus takes 8 hours. The High speed rail should take 2 hours to reach. And current trains takes 11 hours to reach and ticket around 700 rupees.

Need 3 rupees per kilometers to run at minimums profibility. The High Speed Rail will kill the Short range aviation routes as would be cheaper and same time taken.
