Seen Calcutta people glorify every decrepit crap that place has to offer ever since I can remember. Nothing new to see here.
Actually Kolkata is way behind in flyover and signal free corridors..with exception of MAA-AJC Bose Flyover the city lack signal free corridors on main roads like EM Bypass, as well as New Town MAR. Even Belgoria Expressway which was actually built as a signal free now has signals..Kolkata transport>>>>>> Any state transport.
-Wide Roads. Most are 2/4 lanes now.
L238 from Barasat to Howarah.
44a Baguiati to howrag
45 will take you baguati to salt lake.
121 c will take you hatiara to sealdah.
Some 10 such busses on each route that will take you to different parts of the city, so at most you will need to change one bus.
-Plenty of taxi services the yellow ones are almost gone now replaced by ola Uber
- Local train will take you through the old city.
- Metro would have been completed on time of Mamta was not there.
-Auto on almost every non posh areas.
-Traffic police actually do their job.
-Lots of car Rental services.
-Lots of Flyovers decongesting busy route.
Spend 35 rs and go from Barasat to Howah 28 km
Spend 80 rs and for AC
Never happening with tmc scums in power.Actually Kolkata is way behind in flyover and signal free corridors..with exception of MAA-AJC Bose Flyover the city lack signal free corridors on main roads like EM Bypass, as well as New Town MAR. I hope someday the EM Bypass near house become signal free with flyovers and underpasses at all the junction just like how they do it in Delhi-Gurgaon Highway...
Looks Majestic!
It needs some serious refurbishment. I have seen the pics of internal alley and rooms and the empty area. What are the plans for the old Parliament building? Will they convert it into offices for the MPs & their staff?
Do you have them at hand? I would like to see those. It needs some serious refurbishment. I have seen the pics of internal alley and rooms and the empty area.
Won't be razed. Too much of a historical object to be razed down. But it can be renovated extensively to become a museum and house some office spaces.Everything is in serious tatters. Might need to raze down many parts of it and build it again for use as other Govt Offices.
This is the combined pic I could find:Do you have them at hand? I would like to see those.
You don't need to raze down completely. keep the outside perimeter same and raze down the inner portions which are in bad conditions.Won't be razed. Too much of a historical object to be razed down. But it can be renovated extensively to become a museum and house some office spaces.

Banning would have sent a bad message. They should have simply selected different company which can execute the project and Russians should have been told you lost the tender. I am fully against giving any order to Russian companies with respect to Indian railways in the present situation. They haven't been reliable in military domain jacking up prices, taking advantage on our reliance on Russian weapons, they have done it all. IR should retender the damn thing and oust Russian companies taking any part in modernization of IR.
As expected, the Russians are delaying one of the most important infrastructure projects. IR should've banned these sanctioned ruski companies from participating in the tender itself.
If they redo the tender again, we'll lose at least 1 year of production.
