This is one of poorest province in China. See how they have prevented slumification by making high density 30+ floor buildings. Although there are huge public open spaces, this looks quite dystopian (like the Cyberpunk 2077 game).

Maybe countries with high population density need this kind of solution. What do you guys think?
Yup, like Lodha Group’s Palava project (they’re building another big township in Navi Mumbai) as it fits in a lot of people improving quality of life.

Very little or next to nothing trees and bushes. Concrete jungle. Only pluses I see is that lack of dust and garbage. It looks very clean compared to Indian cities. And they created safe space for people to walk around and mill.
Urban areas are supposed to be designed for improving life with footpaths, walkways etc. Trees are secondary, and anyways they spread dust and mud around due to exposed soil

Trees are an important part of the city design because more problematic than dust due to exposed soil is the heat island effect the absence of trees would otherwise create. Exposed soil can be kept wet with sprinklers or drip irrigation systems to ensure it doesn't lead to dryness and dust. But the importance of trees in urban design can not be overstated enough.
Ever been to Chandigarh? Its possible to have them all together: footpaths, bicycle lanes, wide roads and trees.

While Chinese cities look impressive, we shouldn't blindly ape them. Or else be ready to say goodbye to all the wildlife in and around the cities. Bye to all the birds and bye to actual trees. Then we will end up with artificial trees with leaves stapled to them (no joke), like they have in Chinese cities.

What's shameful here? It's their city planning their aesthetics and we should build our own. But first we should improve and rebuild existing public infra wherever necessary.

you are not alone, CCP propaganda machinery is making muricans feel that way too.
"shameful" is a cultivated political opinion, not your own. CCP is spending billions of $ on this narrative.

Don't know why people are jealous of the Chinese here. Go to any Chinese forum and they are crying about Japanese cities and infrastructure.

If you ask me personally construction pathways are all well and good but the first step should come from the citizens themselves and looking at how illiterate and dumb the average Indian citizen is regarding street cleanliness no amount of infrastructure is going to help us.

Some examples are kartavya path expressway's with solar panels vande Bharat or trains in general. These little examples give you a glimpse at the mindset of most people who live like pigs and stop others from living properly too.

My company's director and his wife are regular travellers to the west and they think Hong Kong is more advanced and convenient. They say it's like a sci-fi movie at night.

Don't get me started on civic amenities in India.

Perhaps Chinese cities don't receive as much solar radiation as their Indian counterparts. Bare strips of concrete devoid of trees and grass would be unwalkable during the Indian summer days.
LOL haven't you been watching the news lately? This summer they were roasted. They had a drought for heavens sake. People here calmly talking about how they don't need trees in an urban jungle. I want to ask are you in your senses? Apart from heat absorption which comes with having no trees and also no water sipping into underground when there are rains, there is a psychological impact on people's mental health if all they see is just concrete jungle. Why does your senses feel good when you are in nature? Why do you suddenly feel free from stress when you are in a national park where all you hear is the sound of the insects?

Human beings evolved in nature listening to birds chirping, living off of the land, enjoying the morning and evening sun. The hustle and bustle of the city have wreaked our brains. Growing in a concrete jungle with no exposure to nature is not natural. Exposure to nature is not optional it is a necessity for your mental and physical health.

.

We have to build our cities without compromising on green cover and parks in every residential area. City planning should prioritize green cover otherwise with rising temperatures our cities will become Micro-ovens where everyone will be baked in summer. I miss the days when I used to see so many different types of birds in my town and cool temperatures even in hot summers.

sure, as long as they understand that only 24% of HK land area is developed as a matter of policy, that means 260 sq. km. when almost all infra investments is crammed into 260 sq km over decades, it will be highly efficient.

same with singapore.

you want clean cities like west, china then remove ghettos and redevelop them, stop encroachment by dalals and politicians.

start introducing population control law.

our infra cannot support TFR 10 🤣
This population control bill drama is stupid. For multiple reasons. TFR is already about to dip below 2.0. Such a bill/law would have made a difference 40 years ago. Not now. Stupid idea.

Intersting topic.

In that video the first thing that catches eye is very high standards of cleanliness. Maintaining this type of cleanliness requires highly trained and properly equipped manpower. Gov can't just pass responsibility to citizens. In India everage cleaning person is not properly trained nor given any new equipment like large vaccum and pressure washers. They only have a wooden broom with which they only move garbage and dirt to the side.

Second thing I noticed in video is proper pedestrian infrastructure. In India road infra is built with only vehicles in mind. This causes lot of traffic and pollution. This pedestrian centric architecture is what gives this places a modern look. If this cityscape had an asphalt road with traffic and unpaved walking areas, it wouldn't look any different from a typical Indian city.

Lastly those building sort of blend in with each other because of similar color scheme adopted by builders. In India every house, every building uses flashy colors like red, green, blue and what not. Even trains and buses are colored in the most flashy way possible. This type of colors creates an illusion of disharmony and chaos. While natural colors make landscape look modern and pleasing.

Last thing that makes this place beautiful is lack of improperly parked vehicles on sidewalks and street hawkers. This requires strict action by local bodies.

The problem with India is no one really cares about beautification of cities. This subject doesn't even get mentioned in city planning. Our city planning always revolves around, "Bijli, Pani, Sadak" rest doesn't matter.

What BS is this....trees control erosion and reduce ambient temperature and absord co2....where is misguided nonsense coming from unless you are being sarcastic. Not having shrubs and native trees is the reason for dust. Drove through Nevada and parts of CA, you will see dust on the highways and roads due to not having shrubs or trees.

I personally prefer the Japanese model. A perfect blend of nature and man.
Its a mixed bag, they could be pure concrete jungles with asphalt or concrete covering every sq inch radiating heat. In general, most japanese make do with less is more but there are incredibly stupid aspects such as wrapping each individual candy or cookie in a plastic wrap and heavy packaging and so on.
