Cotton:Soviet 3.32 M tons, CHina 6.6 tons, CHina's is 200% of Soviet's;

BTW,
as for most per capital industry output, Russia today is even less than Soviet 1980,due to rapid deindustrialization since 1992.

Furthermore , as for some per capital industry output indexs, Soviet 1980 is still better than CHina 2009,such as per capital food, per capital electric energy generation, per capital fertilizer..etc..

Comparing a country thirty years after the fact... how pointless is that.

guy, even today, only China and USA have more industry outpout than Soviet 1980,as a whole.

all countries except G2,including you beloved France, are still despairing to catch up with Soviet 1980, as for industry output.

Guy, high industry output with low services is the sign of an underdeveloped economy. Shouting how underdeveloped your economy is not something I would be proud of. You just showing that China is more backwards than the economy of USSR.

Actually, per capita Russia today is far above China. With 1.3 billion people, China's per capita is among the lowest on the planet.

CHina's population(2009) is about 1.33 trillin ,about 500% of Soviet's 0.27 trillion(1980)

as we see,

today,China's 6 industry sections(plastic,chemical fibre,cement,textile,auto and meat) output 500%+ than Soviet's 1980.

while CHina's 9 industy sections (steel, elec energy generation,fertiziler,Combined Harvester,Tractor,food,milchig,cotton) outputs less 500% than Soviet's 1980s.

Especially, China's per capital eletric energy generation 2009 is only about 60% of Soviet's 1980.

It fully proves that the industrialization extent of CHina 2009 is still one decade behind Soviet 1980 at least.

guy, per capital nominal GDP can be distorted much ,due to exchange rate .

per capital industry output, espeically per capital electric energy generation, can tell you much more than per capital nominal GDP,because electricity is the base of industry activities.

Generally speaking,

the more per capital electric energy generation is ,the more industrialized one economy is .

In 1980, China's per capital electric energy generation was only 300 KWH,while Soviet's was almost 5000 KWH. China's was only 6% of Soviet's at that time....not in the same league...

now,

as for per capital eletric energy generation

USA's is 14200 KWH(2005)
German is 13457 KWH(2005)
Japan's is 8856KWH(2005),
France's is 9479KWH(2005)
S.Korea is 8175 KWH(2005)
Russia's is about 6659 KWH(2005)
Italy's is 5258KWH(2005)
China's is 3000 KWH(2009)
India's is 620 KWH(2005).

well, guy, China's eletric energy generation almost double every 3 years.

so, can you figure out how soon CHina's per capital eletric energy generation will surpass Russia's?

Guy, inefficient electricity usage don't make you more productive.

list of "per capital elec energy generation"
USA's is 14200 KWH(2005)
German is 13457 KWH(2005)
Japan's is 8856KWH(2005),
France's is 9479KWH(2005)
S.Korea is 8175 KWH(2005)
Russia's is about 6659 KWH(2005)
Italy's is 5258KWH(2005)
China's is 3000 KWH(2009)
India's is 620 KWH(2005).
http://bbs.huanqiu.com/tushuoshijie/...04337-1-1.html

as we see, the more "per capital eletric energy generation" is , the more industrialized one economy is .

even Italy's is 5258KWH ,so we can conclude that the "per capital eletric energy generation" of all industrialized economies >5000 KWH....
that is to say, 5000 KWH can be looked on as the treshold of "industrialized economy".

China's (2009) is 3000 KWH,almost on the midway of "industrialization course".

India's (2005) is only 620KWH, still in the intial stage of "industrializaiton course"

that is why i insist that china be just a "semi-industrialized economy" while India be a pre-industrialization economy.

I hate to burst your bubble, but electricity generation is not a measure of who has the more industrialised economy. Advanced economies are reducing their consumption with more efficient production methods. China's explosive increase in electricity is just a symptom of their ever increasing inefficiency. Usage doubles every three years but the production doesn't even come close.

what you hate is not "burst bubbles",but to face the fact that India's per capital eletr energy generation (2005) is only 620KWH,<1/10 of industrialized economies'.

explosive increase in electricity is a inevitable and urgent for any developing country that is on the way to industrialization.

Of course, when a economy has its industrialization mature, its per capital electr enegery generation will gradually stop increasing and get steady, just as USA,EU and Japan do.

However, for time being, no "advanced economies" has "reducing their consumption" obviously.

Actually I am quite glad India doesn't have a high per capita electricity usage. If they did at their stage of development added with China's pollution it would turn this planet into Venus.

Its great when electricty consumption grows hand in hand with GDP, but China shoots up the electricty with relatively little growth in GDP. That is called inefficient use of energy.

Tell that to France, Sweden, UK, Italy even USA have reduced their consumption so obviously advanced economies are doing it.

India is still the second fastest growing major economy. Still a trillion dollars plus economy. There is something about india that will baffle the best analyst. India has its own ways of growing one would imagine.

Tell that to France, Sweden, UK, Italy even USA have reduced their consumption so obviously advanced economies are doing it.
In 1990, the global top 4 eletricity- energy generating countries : USA (3202.8 trillion KWH), Soviet(1764.6 Trillion KWH)/Russia(1082.2 trillion KWH), Japan(857.3 trillion KWH), China (621.2 trillion KWH);

In 2007,the global top 4 eletricity-energy generating countries: USA(4380-4400 trillion KWH),China(3255.9 trillion KWH), Japan(1180-1200 trilion KWH), Russia(1016 trillion KWH).

there is only one country whose electrisity energy generation decreased during 1990-2007: Russia. Russia decreased its eletri energy generation just because of serious deindustrialization.

Maybe you should stop looking at outdated Chinese statistics and check the news. Since 2009,

USA fell 3.7%
France 5%
UK 5%
Italy 8%

Sweden has been falling at an annual rate of 3% since 2004
