The farcical saga of joint development continues! Epic Fail!Ten years after having first testedthe 'jointly developed' Brahmos missile, India now goes back to Russia to develop a smaller (more practical) version of the missile - is an indication of the farcical nature of the joint development. Assembly, license production, jointdevelopment - all same to same! TOT is nothing more than the chhota DRDO officials down beforeand after making tall claims.

More practical?

An air-launched missile will already have an advantage of altitude, so a smaller size will do.

Surface and air-launched versions have their own advantages. Neither is "more practical."

Coming back to ToT, this is high time India got all the ToT about the engine of the BrahMos. Russia would be more flexible at this point in time. I hope we are able to produce such advanced missiles domestically, and evolve upon it.

"Pratical" in terms of easy use. This very same missile can be used to arm our future warships and submarines.
Current BrahMos is too big and heavy to be used in submarines and warships without having severe effect on platforms performance. Also it limits the amount of firepower the warships can carry.

The point is, the BrahMos coperation should be able to develop a new missile all by themselves, without asking for Russian help.
But thats not the case..
