With combat weight... But how much, I see two drop-tanks (volume?)

Anyone knows?
1800L/480 gallons, with 2 CCMs visible and probably 2 BVR on the fuselage (standard).
A total external load of 3.7-3.8T if the fuel tanks were full.
Not surprising given SH can take off with an MTOW of around 25T from a short take off ski jump (from the long take off position in case of carrier)

Source? That would be me.

Aircrafts can generally take off with 1.25 times their thrust output from long take off position on carriers.
F-35B has a score of ~1.34× when taking off from QEC (highest that i know of).
It's more complex than that... F-18 had LERC, Rafale has canards& large wing area, Mig-29 had high T/W. These are all factored in, not just thrust

It just want to give a reality check here. Buying F/A 18 SH will result in more import from America.

2-3 years after the induction of FA 18 SH, IN will again complain about maintenance and poor performance of aircraft.

This opportunity will be used to buy EMALS system from America on heavy price for third aircraft carrier.

This situation will also help navy to push further demand of third aircraft carrier rather Submarines.

Arm lobbies are actually write RFI/RFP for UN Armed forces.

FWIW, IDRW reports the Rafale M took off with 3.5 ton payload from SBTF.

If both these numbers are close to truth then it may boil down to affordability and size viz. how many(more) of each can fit on our ACCs besides the weapons compliment & F18s may have the edge there with folding wings. With both the platforms evenly matched it may be a purely political decision.

The incoming TEDBF appears similar to Rafale M by design (canarded delta) while housing F18s engines and retaining it's folding wings.

1st indigenous aircraft carrier Vikrant delivered to Navy, India among rare few with capacity

Vikrant has been built with 76% indigenisation, at a cost of about Rs 20,000 cr, & will significantly enhance the Navy’s presence in the Indian Ocean Region. It will be commissioned next month.

"The shipyard is also augmenting their infrastructure, including a new dry dock, to cater for the construction of even larger ships including a next generation aircraft carrier," the CSL release said.

It is very late, yet instead of criticizing I would chose to admire the mighty INS Vikrant.

The Navy has put its money on all american aviation. P8I + MH60R + Sea Guardian + F18SH.

Its a very rational choice given the alternative (non flying MiGs, TUs and Ka 28s) rather have slightly expensive birds (that fly at lower cost actually) than hangar queens.

Doesnt fit at all on the elevators.
Apart from that damning problem, consider this - the USN operates hundreds upon hundreds of F/A18 SHs, and we can immediately get a squadron on lease while production of IN spec F18s commences. Rafale Ms - no chance, the Marine Nationale doesnt have the numbers it desires and backlog in orders from so many countries.

And even more crucially, the capabilities that the EA18G brings to the table are unmatched.

If it doesn't fit in elevators then why Navy took trials of Rafale M??

Another thing, the way you portraying SH is like if we buy 27 SH then whole US Navy assets will be available for India. This is reflecting your poor strategic thinking.

Why did Navy take trials of the Rafale M? Because Dassault is proposing a wing tip unscrewing method for fitting in the elevators. Which they havent developed and want IN to fund. Ergo, not happening.

And poor strategic thinking?

I would kindly advise you to look at the history of acquisitions in India. First 18 Su30Ks, lease from RuAF. First 20 Jaguars As, lease from the RAF. First 18 Vampires, first squadron of Hunters - all on lease.

HELL, even now we are operating 2 Sea Guardians on lease. Blind much? or deliberately ignorant?

First of all these are just speculations that Rafale wings doesn't fit in elevators.

They want IN to fund wing folding?? Do you know even what are you saying?? This is called single vendor situation. Tender will be cancelled ins such situation.

These were not lease Guru. This is special arrangements.

Guru, If Rafale can't be delivered as per IN requirement then they would have denied the participation in tender. Guru, when you release a RFI you also specify certain requirements after that you take trials.

Buying strategic weapons from a country which have CAATSA for you, is not smart strategic thinking.

2 Sea Guardian are not strategic weapons they are more for China under QUAD arrangment.

So don't compare offensive weapons like fighter jets with supportive weapons.
