These kinda news is getting stale. This building of ship in from 2009 to 2021 just proves Indian ship building manufacturing sucks. To get a carrier right whole lots of wheel has to work to get it done. And it won't be ready till 2023 atleast. Navy would be getting an 15 year old hull as a new ship. And techs developed in the last decade will be found wanting.
Construction began in December 2006 and the first keel was laid in 2009.
Instead of laying the first keel, the steel plate was cut in 2006.

I say make two more.
Easy to say mate but for each carrier you need a carrier battle group(CBG) comprising of Destroyers, Frigates, ASW ships, a submarine, a support and replenishment ship etc. adding them up will balloon up costs. One more would definitely make sense, if the navy feels they need an additional one ASAP, at the timeline where corresponding ships are inducted. Before you build a carrier you need to build the CBG. Presently envisioned plans dictate ships sufficient only for 3 CBGs(for Vikramaditya, Vikrant and Vishal).

Tell me what problem do we have making two more of the Vikrant class kitted without a ski jump and three EMALS catapults with a sub reactor or two on board (83 MW X 2) for power?
The next decade will have no work done and five to 8 years after that the next design will be floated. 2038 AD is when Vishal will be somewhat operational. It's too much pressure for only two carriers for the sub-continent defence. Atleast 4 LHD with two EMALS also has to bought/designed like the Chinese type 075 and follow on LHDs. Type 004 has EMALS already installed, now they have more then 5 carriers today in various stages(LHDs included).

I maintain that with IAC-2 we should take a stretched Vikrant class and load it with 4 reactors and EMALS. These can be sourced from Russia and US respectively and we can start work in some 4-5 years. The weakest links here will be the older Russian reactors and EMALS but those are things we can live with until better Indian products are ready. If work starts in 2025 in full swing we can have a carrier ready by 2035. And between now and 2025 a second carrier construction facility can be commissioned on some other shipbuilder's facility within India.

Priorities nothing else , Right now we don't even have proper fighters jets for IAC 1 and Viki apart from Mig-29k which can't last beyond another decade we need air arm sorted out first Let TEDBF start progressing beyond drawing table and then we can plan for another AC .

Right now what we badly need as subs we are really short of it considering what ccp thugs are building . Lets put money where it matters now . Subs destroyers Frigates and Minesweepers . Subs including SSN and SSBN

We can plan for AC may be after 2026-27 once we have better budget .

In correct, the Submarines are already in order, by 25-29 atleast 4 to 5 submarines will be ready. The air-arm was wrestling with the Gov for the TEDBF approval; that's why the MIG - 29 K was having technical issues. The Russians won't give approvals if the aircraft or any other equipment sold by them was with a fault. All the nations that have bought foreign military equipment have their own plans you see and so the products made by country defence is put much higher in terms of personnel desire.

This is also a very valid point. From my PoV we can ask the Navy to start sorting out what all aircrafts it wants to fly from its carriers in a decade from now. They would be in my opinion:

1> TEDBF and its follow ons.
2> E2D or equivalent.
3> C2 Greyhound or equivalent. Possibly V22 as well.
4> MH60R or equivalent IMRH.
5> Dhruv Naval version.
6> MiG 29Ks until sufficient numbers of TEDBF are ready.

Luckily for us all these aircraft barring that on point 2 and 3 are available in house. If navy can quickly finalise a carrier air wing then ships can be built around that. Else you will end up in IAC-1 like situation where lifts and storage are tuned for the MiG 29K.

Fixing the MiG 29K is a relatively simpler problem. India has all the tech in house to make the necessary changes and upgrade it to a kickass plane. Once TEDBF squadrons come the 29Ks can be put on land bases to be manned by the navy.

India needs iac Or vicky type another aircraft carrier as a reserve, not more than that. Emals Or nuclear one may be too much to maintain , instead better to concentrate on building other carrier group requirement including carrier borne fighter.
My friend, nuclear propulsion was made for easy maintenance. EMALS was made for easier operations on board. Both are available to the IN. Why not convert vikkys and make another or two while TEDBF comes in production? We have at the least 10 years for TEDBF, in that time why not do what the Chinese did, make more carriers with EMALS and put in submarine reactors on board, two will give 166 MW.

Building carriers on their own is not a problem, for every carrier I’m again stressing upon the facts that present and planned ships for CBGs are only sufficient for 3 carriers. The only way your idea is even remotely possible is if we retire Vikramaditya faster than anticipated and build more modern and larger versions of Vikrant . Which is going to eat up the naval budget.

Governement should monetize some assets like highways etc with which NHAI is earning and when NHAI will not need this much money as at a time our infra needs will reach a point that we’ll need less money for infra construction and the high amount of infra constructed will give a lot of money through monetization of those assets.
These money can't be used for defence resources. They will be should be used for building more roads. It's not as if our highways are world class yet.
Economy needs to grow 10%.

Yes precisely, only if we make versions of the Vikrant class do we have a possibility of making another dry dock. Also your point about vikky retiring earlier won't fit in.
