This is thread started to understand what India's Strategic Defense policy.

  1. Why does India not develop any long range air to surface missile, as they can give IAf a strategic advantage with respect to air to surface missiles.
  2. What would be India's defense against cruise missiles, since they seem to be the latest arsenal?
  3. How does India plan to plug the gaps in radar coverage?

a long range supersonic cruise missile is under developement by the drdo which is different from 1000km range subsonic nirbhoy.this missile which was first disclosed in livefist is powered by liquid ramjet and is the culmination of experiences gained from bhramos project.i think this will be india's version of kh-55 and it will also be inducted in all the 3 defence services.apart from this project drdo is testing a scramjet engine which will in future be used as a reusable missile combining the features of ballistic and cruise missile, of range about 5000km(speculated).this missile when developed will be also equipping our 3 branches of armed forces.

It is doubtfull if an air launched version of Nirbhay will be available.

Such a weapon is decades away.

1)We can't because DRDO are a bunch of incompetent clowns. Look at Akash, Nag etc. If they can't hit slow moving targets what chance do they have of hitting supersonic targets.
2)No hope, just pray the Pakis are as incompetent as us
3)It doesn't
