The lander was supposed to map the terrain and Chose it's landing site. So all talk of trajectory deviations is mute. It could have been the autonomous decision of lander .

Chandrayaan2 is two stage mission. Lander + Orbiter.
The orbiter will keep working for 1 year even is signal is lost with lander

Chandrayaan 2 might not be a completely successful mission but definitely it's not a failure

It has been reported that the Orbiter has performed an unannounced maneuver to place itself in a 96 x 125 kilometer (59 x 77 mile) orbit, which would allow it to pass directly above the Vikram lander had the landing occurred
