Collectively classified under Pariah.
They are highly smart and can beat any foreign breed multiple times their size.
Apart from that there are multiple Hounds breeds too.
Indian kettle club should make some efforts to standardize and popularize Pariah.
I saw posts from a Singapore guy who bread Pariah to enhance their coat texture and color. His lips were really cute and had quite good feel and color.

Kolkata Municipal Corporation does a good job keeping the stray population limited in the city proper; it is an issue in the suburbs though. Same goes for the Bidhannagar (Salt Lake) Corporation areas where you can walk kms after kms at midnight without encountering a single stray. BBMP officially reported a decline of 10% in stray population throughout B'luru b/w 2018 and 2023. Vadodara has sterilized almost the entirety of its stray population; if your local corporation/municipality is serious and efficient there are ways to make things happen. For all the activism and shithousery they keep pulling out - Maneka and her chamcha dog lovers cannot and shd not be made the scapegoat for the incompetence of local/urban administrations.

the difference between a leopard and tiger, leopard kills even when not hungry, tiger kills only when hungry.
when tigers and leopards were in abundance, they used keep stray dog population in control. now in absence of carnivores, humans have to take up the task of keeping stray dog population in check.
