Tried some funny business with Neeraj Chopra and Jena too. His first attempt was close to 90m but they said it wouldn't count because the measuring software wasn't working or some bs like that. These MFs did not even pretend to be fair. Fuck them; I have lost count of the medals (and gold) we got robbed of in boxing.

The whole Track and Field has observed tremendous growth. We have started winning in distance running. In Neeraj Chopra we have an elite level sportsman - not just track and field athlete - on the global stage, not unlike Bolt was in sprinting. Jena would have got gold in the Tokyo Olympics with his throw today to give you an idea of the depth we have in just 1 sport now. I think in another decade or so we will compete with S Korea and Japan too in some of the events like Swimming, Diving, Gymnastics, Cycling, Fencing, Rowing, Canoeing where they win many golds consistently. Already we have made good strides in track and field the past decade and that 400m relay team competed well in the last CWG and the World championships in Budapest last month against all the T&F powerhouses which is no mean feat.
It will be touch and go but we can still go past 100 in 3 days time with the events still left.
Let me give a brief summary; The whole Track and Field has observed tremendous growth. We have started winning in distance running.
We already had strength in Wrestling and boxing. Somehow we are underperforming in Shooting.
We are going to be next powerhouse in track n field in coming decade.
Next, we need to figure out Swimming, Diving and Gymnastics where bulk of Chinese medals comes in.
2 of our best runners were injured, 1 has been recently diagnosed with a heart condition. Else even now they wouldn't be winning women's 4*400 relay.Petro Dollars doing their work! Imported all players from Africa and playing them under their banner.
They will kick them out once they fulfill their utility.
Antim is still a teenager - 2 time u20 world champion, a reigning senior worlds bronze medallist, secured Olympic quota and defeated a freaking Tokyo 2020 bronze medallist to secure her maiden Asiad medal. She competes in Vinesh Phogat's category and till a few months ago was about to be excluded in favour of her.....Another good day today:
India clinch GOLD in compound women's team final
India win GOLD in compound men's team final
Sepaktakraw: India seal 2-1 win vs China in women's preliminary Group A
Wrestling: Pooja Gehlot defeats Mongolia's Namuuntsetseg Tsogt-Ochir in women's freestyle wrestling 50kg quarterfinal
Squash: India win GOLD in mixed doubles final
Squash: Saurav Ghosal gets silver in men's singles squash
Wrestling: Antim takes bronze in women's freestyle 53Kg
It will take at least 10-12 years for us to surpass Japan and Korea. A direct competition with cheenis can start only after that.mark my word:-
till 2027-28 we will going to surpass south korea...till 2030 we r going to surpass japan. nd till 2038-40 we r at level of chinese. 2045 we will be near USA level in sports.
We need to crack: Swimming, Diving and Gymnast where bulk of medals reign in Olympics.Let me give a brief summary;
1. Track and Field:
In men's javelin we are among the best; 3 Indians reaching the final in world championship establishes our depth. We should be having 3 throwers throwing 88-90 m shortly - unfortunately, Rohit Yadav got injured else there wd be 4. Not even the Germans have such depth.
In women's javelin Annu Rani is good but inconsistent. Have some decent throwers in juniors also.
In men's long jump and triple jump we are slowly getting there but it will take some time before we start winning medals in big tourneys (Asian events don't count) - same with women's LJ where both Ancy and Shaili are very young and might even be potential 7 m+ jumper in a year. To give you some perspective, a 7 m jump is generally enough to win gold in an Olympic final.
I am more worried about men's and women's pole vault - have not seen much there.
In men's high jump both TJ and Sarvesh are decent but not medal contenders yet. In women's high jump a 16 year old Pooja finished 5th (or 4th?) in the final at Hangzhou by clearing 1.80 m. A 16 yr old clearing 1.80 m is absolutely incredible.
In men's and women's SC 3000m Avinash Sable and Parul have slim outside chances of medalling at Paris 2024, although I won't put my money on them yet.
We have been witnessing national records after national records across sprints for years now. We also have some excellent young 400 m runners; need to groom them properly.
2. Swimming: Our swimmers have been routinely breaking national records for some time now; even at the Asiad there were multiple national records. However, we are so far away from global standard that even national records are not enough to medal at major events. Anyway, we will get there at this rate. Shoan Ganguly, a teenager, bettered the national record mark at 400m individual medley at the Commonwealth Youth Games; that will give you the indication of upcoming depth in swimming. Unfortunately, absolutely nothing to show at diving or synchronized swimming yet.
Gymnastics Fed is a mess; I have zero expectations from them. Deepa Karmakar came out as a freak champion and nearly medalled at Rio 2016 despite their pathetic setup; not because of them.We need to crack: Swimming, Diving and Gymnast where bulk of medals reign in Olympics.
In track n field we are poor in Discuss & Shotput & Triathlon and Decathlon type events.
I am happy to see the sheer no and quality of young athletes in various National Academies.
One area where we were power: "Shooting" is seeing a decline recently. Major players failing in big events. Something needs to be done there.
So Happy to see, Archery team beating the superpower S.Korea and Taiwan in Asian games.
