Ps: i once carried 1961 model og russian Ak with slab mags. You wont find a tiny spot of rust on it .Soviet Aks belongs to another league

Meanwhile, some 3,500-4,000 Indian Army snipers – around 10 per infantry battalion – remain little better than amateurs compared to their Western, and even Chinese counterparts. They lacked adequate training, suitable weaponry and supplementary paraphernalia like accurate imported Match ammunition, hand-held laser range finders, night sights and related hardware, essential to accomplish this highly skilled and deathly mission. Army shooters were routinely issued locally-produced ammunition, which experts dismissed as ‘wholly inaccurate’ and one that defeated the very purpose of sniping.

This is so true..No matter who printed it but our sniping capability is Poor.

Ex- KHANJAR 2023
PARA Sf looks like Afghan SF
Hand them the Tavors and the M4s with the PEQ 2s and they'll look leagues better. Moreover, here they're missing a sidearm and any kind of comms equipment. Strap all that on and then you have a decently equipped SF unit. And as far as I remember there was also a pic of a 9 Para SF operative with dual NODs (2 PVS 14s used in tandem). Considering all this, 9, 4 and ig even 10 are in an okayish state of kit.

Honestly , hand the fatigues to marcos with their safriland cmomms and we'll look like a tier 1 force

Comms and Optics are the singularly most important kit of a SOF soldier. Not just window dressing.

The list of equipment defficiency however is way longer and its not just about kit - its also about training infrastructure.
Since the picture is of the innaugral ceremony, there is no point in setting up comms, plate carriers and optics.
Hopefully if the pics of this jt ex. keep coming out, we'll surely see them in combat fatigues (most prob that olive drab spec-ops one) and hopefully more eqpt.

Speaking of training, setting up those wilcox dovetail mounts + no 'EXFIL helmet' stickers clearly shows the seriousness of this particular unit which isn't seen elsewhere even in many SF bns here.

Looking like a tier 1 force isn't the goal guruji.
Think about it, if your unit is mandated for tasks like LRRP, CTR and even longer duration FID...the tier 1 looking kit is the last thing you wanna have.
They should have the best things possible for the tasks mandated to them.

Check the year and compare it with our present day gear😂
Over the years these guys ran so many kits for so many seperate scenarios.
The one you just sent is their equivalent of their present day MOUT - Hostage Rescue/HVT kit.

Units that are chartered for this mission in India like the NSG/SG and some HIT squads of para SF have had the opportunity to train alongside them in their kit over the years. Some fought for good kits, some didn't...and here we are today with the absolute clusterfuck.

Here's a short in which you can see NSWDG kit thats widely adopted by the rest of the NSW and almost all equivalent tier 2 elements across the board in most scenarios, its a basic template on which they build up rest of the stuff -
