Can be used for night ops in J&K urbans and Forest . Pretty ok , but I'll believe when I see its utility in service
This is interesting
Are they diversifying their deployment(I mean in forest or somewhere like that) bcoz nothing else provides sense to induct a new camo
I am really happy the way they are evolving themselves wrt environment
I personally liked the camo if the purpose is sane
Ur take?

I'm non-consensually gae to communists and only communists.
What's that written in your signature?
unzips

I feel like MARCOS are taking to night-fighting like frogmen in a pond.
Black camos are suicidal in daytime but at night, as long as there's some disruptive pattern and not a very sharp shade of black, it's actually pretty sensible (which is what MARCOS are using here). It's still quite the fashion statement though, because I can't see this camo being useful anywhere in the daytime other than a tar factory.
With the induction of BNVDs, I'd assume we'll soon see them being pushed into the niche role of conducting COIN and pursuit at night in Kashmir and being used to wreck the terrorist SOP of starting an encounter at dusk and escaping to the hinterlands in the dark to fight another day.
Maybe Paras will find some envy in their heart and start copying their gear then.
A man can dream.
I think that Black camo is just a fancy replacement for the complete black uniform they used in the eastern fleet.

Since k9 is the ongoing topic , I'll continue . NSG is probably the only specialist org with dedicated k9 division and training facilities . RR has been using them pretty extensively for hostile tracking and subdueing through bite and hold . Sniffers for recon and scouting are the primary roles . Para sf has recently been seen using belgian malanois for their CQB environments and room clearing in J&K . Ghataks probably use them too , since they are a part of army . Marcos and Garuds have yet to see any action in k9 raising training and utility . Capabilities of SFF and SPGSIU are not known to me
If @COLDHEARTED AVIATOR and @abingdonboy could say something it would be pretty helpful
SPG have only ever shown their K9 abilities for sanitisation purposes so sniffer/detection dogs only. None of their tactical units have been seen employing dogs.

SG has also never been seen with K9s and they don’t really fit into their operational mandate either

Only MARCO’s support guys (Navy EOD) have been seen with detection dogs

Garuds don’t appear to have any exposure to K9s whatsoever

NSG remain the premier entity in india when it comes to K9 capabilities- both assault dogs and detection. The rest aren’t even close

They are two different things. Most MWD/K9 in india are generally sole purpose- attack or sniffer/scent. And the vast majority of these are scent dogs hence why most of the dogs you’d see with security agencies in india were labradors (some times spaniels).

it’s only in very recent times that assault dogs have become widely adopted by Indian agencies (post 26/11 really). This started out with NSG but seems to be more commonplace now across services.

multi purpose dogs (scent and assault) are VERY specialised and require huge amounts of training and selection, most of the Tier 1 units in the US have MWD that are multipurpose. And a lot of these are imported in single digit units annually by specialist trainers from Europe.

In india I think only NSG has this capability with their Belgian Malonois that are attached to their assault units, maybe the CRPF’s Belgians have that too for fighting in LWE areas. i believe NSG and maybe CRPF also have their own breeding programs (maybe ITBP also) after initially procuring these breeds from Europe

afaik the dogs in the IA are only single purpose so the Belgians seen with PARA SF won’t be multipurpose but assault only- definitely the case with RR.

+ iirc the IA had stopped using assault dogs for a while a few years ago after some experiences with German shepherd assault dogs that they had poorly trained so they’d bitten soldiers. I guess they’ve redrawn their approach and seem to have switched to Belgians for this role, not sure if they are sourcing those dogs from NSG or abroad.

Thank you this was insightful
