I have seen this picture before.and somebody had pointed out that everybody else had moved away from these diving with wetsuits but we are still using them

will be fine in warm waters but you will need those wet suits in cold waters or you die of hypothermia.

You have kit to wear over wetsuits as well. The European/NATO forces operate in far colder waters

This is why mil spec equipment is so expensive, alot goes on in testing. This is why quality optics are so expensive, most are diver proof.

Ofcourse not everything can be waterproofed specially demo and breaching kit. But the soldiers still had decent kit on as well.

Again alot depends on the mission profile being run - coastal vs riverine, vs ocean ops - whether the mission is a recce/CTR or LRRP or a direct action etc etc

Russian have done good home work since 2008 and the way they turnaround their armed forces is truly remarkable. Our defence budget is getting wasted or there is corruption or we lack intellect to produce such kind of results.

Primarily because they are using their national strategy effectively. They don't have much money what they have has gone into upgrading their missile/rocket and SOF and UAV forces first. That is all they need to exert influence in Syria crimeria etc and continue to keep NATO at bay.

don't they get jammed very often. i've heard tavor is more reliable than ak for this.

It's the opsossite actually.
AK 47 can go on performing in the most stringent conditions.
Tavor is like your South Delhi folk, can't work without Air Conditioner.

Infantry, tanks fleet upgraded, airforce upgraded, navy is getting modernised with new submarines they have modernised on all fronts. Yes there is cash crunch but sooner or later money will be back. They are sitting on circa 75trillion worth natural resources.
