Historically Afghanistan was the first region to fall in the Indian sub-continent. Arabs attacked after the conquest of Persia, so did the newly converted Turks.
As per Muslim accounts -

1. the region lacked proper fortification
2. a well-trained army and
3. motivation.

In fact, the Muslims were surprised as the locals would rather flee the battlefield than dying for their faith. They would take shelter in the highlands with women, children and resources only to be followed by the invading forces and massacred. If the Sardar/chief of the tribe was willing to submit to the new religion, then the tribe would be spared.
Contrary to popular beliefs like ''The Graveyard of Empires'' etc. Afghanistan was relatively easy to conquer. Remember Alexander did not face not much difficulty, in fact, hired some local tribesmen to fight against Porus. Hard to believe the region which was once home to magnificent Buddhist temples, beautiful murals of Gods and Goddesses, meditation centres, cave cities and Buddhist monasteries is now the headquarter of global jihad. Even provinces like Nuristan was 100% non-Muslim just 3-4 centuries back.

Lesson: Never UNDERESTIMATE ur enemies & FREEDOM is certainly not free.

Early 90s following so called success in Afghanistan they were on a rampage in Algeria, Balkans, Russian Caucasus states and they tried to make in roads in India.
Hats off to Indian ingenuity who managed albeit at high losses to develop a counter force to stop these rats.

Heard that Isreali SFs buying Tonbo imaging NVGs , if it was for their BNVDs then great , if BNVD-Ps then awesome . Atleast , we'll be influenced during next joint exercise .
