Sir sorry to say but the AK-203 we are getting is just AK-103M.

AK-203 itself was never anything more than AK-103M.

There are no functional difference between 103, 103M & 203 in terms of action or gas system. And 103M already had all the new 'features' that 203 had - including hinged dust cover with retention lock, fire selector with that little 'ledge', railed handguard, collapsible stock, new muzzle device and everything else.

103M was just renamed to 203 for marketing purposes, nothing else. This is original 103M :

But I get what you mean - the version we're getting is a watered-down variant which removes several of these new features (stock & fire selector replaced with original 103 type, quad-rail handguard replaced with tri-rail one with no 12'o clock rail). But that was done at our own request - more than likely in order to save some cost.

If we made these changes out of choice, there was a reason to get frustrated but if we had to do it because it was deemed we couldn't afford it otherwise, then there's no point in getting frustrated. It just has to be acknowledged that we did not negotiate a very good price is all. Thanks in part to OFB lobby & Russian lobby.

However, the version of 203 we're getting still retains some of the core improvements made in the design since original AK. Namely:

  • Hinged dust cover with P-rail & retention lock at the rear ensures that any optics mounted on these 203s will be able to retain zero much, much better than any previous AK.
  • Tri-rail handguard still ensures we are able to mount whatever vertical grip we want, as well as flashlight/laser on sides. The only real drawback due to lack of 12'o clock rail on handguard is that we may not be able to mount day-night sight combos with large TI/I2 night vision optics. Due to the rear iron sight, the 203 top rail was never ideal for such mounts anyway. With smaller TI sights (like from Tonbo), we may have enough space on dust cover rail itself.
  • The new muzzle device (an improvement over the muzzle brake on 103) is still there, helping mitigate some of the considerable recoil of 7.62x39.
It's not a perfect deal, sure. But at some point you have to make peace with the fact that you're never likely to get a perfect deal, not with likes of OFB in play. And the shittiest 103M is still an improvement over the INSAS, at least in terms of giving the wielder confidence that his weapon will not fail him at the wrong time. We can at least take solace in that.....provided the deal actually goes through. So far it hasn't.

I though want it to materialise as soon as it can.
We have to equip the second targets army in the world , we need a rifle better than the current one , not necessarily the best one.

They're spending 1000$ USD on a single rifle
Dude........
You can buy off the shelf AK19 for that price, which is a much better weapon

True. Anything is better than Insas.
Ak 203 plain vanilla is good for present need. Elite units can be equipped with the bells and whistle.
Ak203 once production is set up we can develop it,but Insas is a dead project.
