We only have ~1000 odd of those, unlike AKs TARs and M4s which are in abundance

BIG REVELATION

ex-special secretary (R&AW) G.B.S. Sidhu, on page 132 of his book The Khalistan Conspiracy, said:
"...Special Frontier Force, an adjunct of a bigger group known as Establishment 22..."

He is saying that SFF is just a part of Establishment 22, not a nickname !! And the word "adjunct" means that SFF is not even the main part of Establishment 22 !!

See the photo if you can't believe it:

Est 22 :
Vikas regts(SFF)
1 vikas - para gurkhas / 1 archer (Airborne infantry)
2 vikas(airborne infantry)
3 vikas(airborne infantry)
4 vikas (Special Group)
5 vikas (airborne infantry)
6 vikas (airborne infantry)
7 vikas (airborne infantry)

Also, Special Group is different from the Vikas battalions of the Special Frontier Force; the name "4 Vikas" was given to it to create confusion. The designation of "22 SF" was given to the SG when it was deployed in Jammu and Kashmir (for counter-insurgency operations) to conceal the real name of the unit; obituaries for SG personnel who died carried this name. The number 22 in this designation is in succession with the number 21 in Indian Army‘s 21 Para (SF).

Guys Ideally what do you think the ideal strength of all 3 branch of our SFs need to be, cuz it really doesn’t make sense for there to be more number of SF battalions in the army that Parachute regulars.

1) None of the orbat was valid for the time period being mentioned
2) 22SF is not a designation. It is an old fanboy /civvie/ internal nomenclature assigned to SG. The 4Vikas naming of SG happened way later in life. Let's stop this nonsense about naming being to create confusion.
3) there is no succession of IA SF battalion. 21 came from 21 maratha conversion
4) Est 22 is the nickname of the SFF itself . The first CO of the SFF was from the 22 Moutain Regt of the British Indian Army
5) nomenclature of 22SF for SG flows from that. There js no renaming because of Kashmir.

From a fanboy site. I've read it too, it is called elitepredators or something. Same guy who started the whole 'Marcos world no.1 SF' trend. Ignore stuff like that.

Is there some sort of MoD policy that states that combat free falls (jumps with combat loads including weapons) cannot be publicised? To date I’m still yet to see a single picture of any Indian SF unit jumping from a plane with more than a parachute and perhaps an under slung load

Even during ‘combat’ exercises they appear to jump in without their rifles to hand

They do strap rifles.
