In addition, choices in the market are also likely to be very limited. VZ58 is nowhere as widespread as AKs are (and consequentially, availability of upgrade parts for it), and no parts meant for AK can be interchanged with VZ anyway.
Since Para SF didnt chose to uograde the service life of VZ sthere is no point jn discussing, but FYI the very same Fab offers upgrade kits for VZs too. Just check their official site you could see.
Btw do write a comparison between Bren-2 and Hk416 A5 jn the small arms thread. 😋

And see no hope of any Americans manufactured scar reaching us.

We can get most of it inside India only.

Night Vision goggles from Tonbo imaging,
Small Arms from SSS Defence (they are working on an AR-15).
Parachutes from any Indian startup,
OFB already manufactures .50cal machine guns.

Only the .50cal sniper will have to be imported.

Note: all can be procured indigenously once they complete the IA trials satisfactorily.

Ya'll Nibbiara after seeing that most of the western arms manufacturers are at the brink of the brankcruptcy. We need to mature our domestic arms industry fast.

One step at a time.

First, we need one of the domestically-located Private sector companies to get a sizeable order from Army. It doesn't matter if it's our own design or not - what we need first of all is infrastructure. Even the PLR Systems Gwalior factory isn't large scale enough. And they cannot expand unless large order book is there.

Once there are 2-3 Privately-run factories that have the capacity to build critical components like Barrels and Bolt Carrier Groups in mass production scale, only then can we think of breaking the dependence on OFB. Without breaking that dependence OFB cannot be reformed - we cannot afford our sole-source local supplier for many critical items like ammo (for everything from rifles to tank & artillery guns) to go on strike for extended periods.

To be able to afford that, we need Pvt alternatives. Only if alternatives are there will Govt feel confident in pushing ahead with reforms. And it's important to reform & modernize OFBs because we'll always need a state-run set of factories that can build things even at a loss...considering India does not have a huge civilian firearms & firearm peripherals market like US does, not everything can be profitably manufactured by Pvt sector.

@AVINASH4061 sir,
Another stupid question from a clueless civilian if you'd be so kind.

You mention bad guys running for hundreds of metres before collapsing. Would a 9mm or .45ACP or a bigger round, even with a smaller casing as is in the case of 9x19 put them down faster if in range?
Also, is this why SMGs are preferred at closer ranges?
I always thought this talk of "stopping power" on gun forums and all stemmed from USA's outdated analysis of their experience in Phillipines.

If the range is within 40 metres I would anyday prefer a 9mm or .45. The stopping power and wound ballistics are really impressive. And this question is not stupid, this is good discussion.
