Do you ever hear of SBS and SAS doing these things for each other? DEVGRU and CAG? or even SEALs and Green Berets?
Yes all the time. Interporality is the point of combined arms. The Americans utilize their SOF units in large Taskforce a that make up many number of units including conventional.

Why would such a situation exist? Why would there need to be MARCOs providing overwatch to a PARA assault team? Do you ever hear of SBS and SAS doing these things for each other? DEVGRU and CAG? or even SEALs and Green Berets?

There is a fundamental misunderstanding of what AFSOD is amongst some I feel.

AFSOD is a C&C effort, NOT an attempt to make a new tri-service tier-1 unit.

AFSOD is an interim until they create a full fledged SOCOM, it's an experiment to see how disparate units can be streamlined and controlled centrally by dedicated SF command structure and to assess what specialist assets each service has that can be brought under this ambit.

I recommend reading up on the SOCOMs in the West to see what they actually do, hint almost none of them (I can't think of a single one) have multi-service SF/SOF units as a result of a SOCOM.

INSOCOM will strip the PARAs, MARCOs, Garuds from their respective service HQs and put above them a 3(?) star SF officer (Para most likely, hopefully rotated between the services) maybe the other 2 services will have to create something akin to the Indian Navy's special warfare command also to over their respective SF unit and support assets.

INSOCM/AFSOD is NOT creating a new Tier-1 SF unit, that's up to each service to do if they so desire, AFAIK there was a move within the IA to make this happen and it was reported in a low key fashion not long back (120 operators split into 4 groups with support staff, pretty much how DEVGRU and CAG are structured).
What exactly we plan on AFSOD to be at this point is pure speculation. Yes, it would make sense if we go the way of JSOC-SOCOM in future (with AFSOD being a JSOC analogue, and coalescing all the existing SF units under new INSOCOM command), that is what I advocated multiple times too.

However, as it exists (as per whatever I'm getting to read/see on net wrt this) AFSOD is being developed as a single composite SMU that includes elements from tri-services.

I sure hope that's not the case, but that's what it's looking like at the moment.

It's a pistol-carbine conversion kit, not an SMG.

Not sure on the model, looks like a Roni product.

And the helmets???
Tbh a lot of what they're wearing look like Airsoft kit. I very much doubt the helmets they got there are even ballistic-rated. You can buy models like that on Amazon for 3-4k.

Most importantly where they gettin money from???
MSS????
Take a guess.

I'm not sure about the composite part.. I mean, will they continue to draw their manpower from the existing SOFs, which are already small? They have to recruit from elsewhere as well.

And for them to be an SMU, they need the capability to operate independently. Which means ISR capabilities and their own comms network is a must. Air assets can be deputed to AFSOD initially.

Like you said, this is all speculation.

That all remains to be seen. But so far it's nothing but a composite SMU consisting of tri-service elements.

All that will be necessary for AFSOD regardless of single composite SMU or multiple SMUs under same AFSOD Commander. It will have to be done either way, including a dedicated aviation component, ISR/Signals component, and various Support components.

Prakash Katoch made a chart on the matter once.

Fuck. Their trigger discipline is crap. And the gun is in front of his face. @rkhanna you said NSG have the best trigger discipline.
That's just a dude showing of but pointing a gun to your or your buddy's head is not a good move even if the gun is on safe.

It's not exactly on front of his face, it's just that the way I have covered the face is making it look so
Plus, he's a naib Subedar, so has a fair amount of experience
And about the trigger discipline, I'm not sure maybe the weapon is not loaded (I know that's a lame excuse, but still, you never know)
Edit: he's the uncle of a very close friend of mine

This is bad, very bad. The gentleman is pointing the business end of his weapon towards his face with his booger hook on the bang switch and that to on a pistol with no external safety.
He is holding it in front of his face the way the image is taken make us look like that it is pointed directly at his head

You should always assume that a gun is loaded. That is just appalling from that guy.
