You're totally wrong . Para SF is of the right size if we take in account all the geographical borders of india . In fact we should have more SF in the army . Convert the airborne battalions into SF . The US greatly expanded their SF in strength after 9/11 . SEALS before 9/11 were a smaller forceImo the Para SF is much bigger than it should be. Around 5k Guys cost of equipping them like Americans would be roughly $12,50,00,000 (Expecting 25k spend per soldier) The size of Para is comparable to US Green Berets who have a world wide presence. The complete French SOF Command has 3k guys, German KSK has 1500.
The cost source is: https://www.tierthreetactical.com/special-forces-loadout-gear-selection-and-total-costs/
His total was $37,729 i reduced it to 25k$ for the sake of it assuming getting indian products might cost us a bit less.

US is still expanding its SF while cutting back on conventional forcesImo the Para SF is much bigger than it should be. Last time i checked US drew their theater maps on the World map and we on Republic of India Map. We got Garuds + Marcos + ParaSF + Para Gurkhas whose roles are getting intermixed. You're totally wrong . Para SF is of the right size if we take in account all the geographical borders of india . it dosent include airborne but even 9 battalions are undersized for a country like ours . SSG has 8 battalions for a scaleIncludes Airborne
US has a SOCOM budget bigger than many nations defense budget to equip them with top of the line gearUS is still expanding its SF while cutting back on conventional forces

Special Operations Forces Continue to Expand Across the World—Without Congressional Oversight
Even Congress doesn’t know the extent of American military reach.www.google.com
1)garuds are only protecting airbases . They dont have any significant role n wartime which would be of significance for the armyLast time i checked US drew their theater maps on the World map and we on Republic of India Map. We got Garuds + Marcos + ParaSF + Para Gurkhas whose roles are getting intermixed.
Combine all these and you will only have 10,000 SF which is really small.Last time i checked US drew their theater maps on the World map and we on Republic of India Map. We got Garuds + Marcos + ParaSF + Para Gurkhas whose roles are getting intermixed.
I suggest you to visit both the Threads of Indian Special Forces on DFI to update yourself.1)garuds are only protecting airbases . They dont have any significant role n wartime which would be of significance for the army
2)Marcos are extemely small , barely 1,800 operatives . They wont be able to have an effective outreach on the land theatres in a two front war scenario . They will mainly be a seek and destroy force working along the pak coastline
3) Para SF are stretched in deployment . We didnt have para SF battalions to deal with china in Ladakh and sikkim thus we diverted battalions from 50th para brigade for both the theatres to cope with the chinese
4) there is no such thing as Para Gurkhas in indian army . Para SF is an all class regiment
If true and these guys are special group, we should all be depressed.
Special Group are not SMU complete different mission sets and gear set you are asking from a primary recon force. If true and these guys are special group, we should all be depressed.
Did he upload the one @Nightshade1992 sir were talking about?
@AVINASH4061 sir’s video regarding his early retirement from SF.
Hey guys,
Be sure to tune in to Major avinash's instagram channel. He will be uploading a long duration video today evening where he will be stating the facts and grim reality of current Indian army. It will be a hard pill to swallow and may irk the top brass but it had to be done. Everything that has been discussed in this forum regarding the pathetic condition of Indian SF will be highlighted there according to his practical experience.
Peace!
