Ghataks are not SF per se technically shouldn’t be in the ambit of this thread, should be modernisation of infantry or a separate thread, @mods @ezsasa @ALBY @hit&run please clarify whether Ghataks come under the ambit of this thread so we can be more clear in the future?

LOC is not the only frontier we're defending. We got 14 divisions on the LAC as well. Plus we also have to count in the formations along the IB ( western command and south western command)

How exactly? If the engagement is within the effective range whats the issue with it
270-80 mtrs is the effective range i dont realistically see a infantry guy getting in contact farther away

7.62*39mm is not suitable for the Infantry. It is fine in the CI role in J&K and NE where it serves as an effective carbine. However, vis-a vis Pakis and Chinks we are looking for for longer engagement ranges, which Sig-716 can provide.
For tank crews, AAD crews, artillery guys etc., AK-203 may be an acceptable weapon.
