IMO not really an Intel issue either. IMO It's about SOPs. The Para guys had good intel on ultras moving in a specific vehicle. The ambush was laid a week ago.

Same type vehicle carrying villagers from a hunting trip was asked to stop. The villagers carrying illegal guns for scared and didn't stop. The paras seeing the guns engaged the pax as hostile.

Could a tire strip been used to stop the car? shooting the engine blocm? Did the Paras engage first or return fire ? Were Paras required when this was more a police interdiction ? ISR support ? Medevac support? QRF?

Either way this is a major fuckup after a very long time and I am sure there will be issues addressed along the value chain.

Don't know. Depends on the veracity of the claims and what they were up to. I'd rather wait till enough objective evidence is collected before i form an opinion regarding the teams motives.

Well you can't kill 19 civilians and not expect repercussions. Someone on the security forces' side fucked up which led to a series of fuckups. And someone else paid the price. I'm not justifying either side but this was to be expected.

When you lost your dear onea you cant expect people to be silent and sit idle. If it had happened somewhere else similar protests would have happened. One of the first rules taught in military and police academies is to shoot only if you are 100% sure of the target. It is true that we love our forcew but that doesn't mean we should be blind when making our opinions when the very same ones makes mistakes.

Well SF guys have regularly shot engine blocks to stop vehicles, it needs a large caliber though. We might not have experience, but we have knowledge atleast. You have neither.

A burst at an engine block will stop most unarmored cars.

An engine block is made up of cast iron and other objects within the compartment- sheet metal and plastics primarily. No reason as to why bullets can't penetrate them and something starts malfunctioning. Even with the heat exchanger damaged in the front section of the panel, engine won't last a few minutes
