I think we must wait for some twitter experts for identifying this
Can someone find the original/clearer picture or atleast the page which has posted this? @tusharfoxtrotAm I the only one who is seeing quad tube nvg mounted on a helmet? View attachment 120061
Hard to tell. To me it looks like there is a taper on the tube. This tonbo quad doesn't have any tapers.
GPNVG?Hard to tell. To me it looks like there is a taper on the tube. This tonbo quad doesn't have any tapers.
Maybe, but even that doesn't have a taper. But then again the taper might just be due to the image distortion.GPNVG?
Imo Tonbos would've been a cheaper option
I'm not expert enough to tell the differenceHard to tell. To me it looks like there is a taper on the tube. This tonbo quad doesn't have any tapers.
Then there is only one explanationMaybe, but even that doesn't have a taper. But then again the taper might just be due to the image distortion.
These are from a Garud display of arms, am I right??
From this photo, objective lens part looks like GPNVG due to the step that isn't there on DRDO or TONBO.
IAF does have an RFI on their website for 120 dual tube NVDs.
90ยฐ x 40ยฐ is mentioned in the tender means itโs a Pano NVG Tender (GPNVG-18 = 97ยฐ x 40ยฐ FOV)
AN/PVS-31 Binod is 21ยฐ x 15.7ยฐ FOV.
Quite vague as it asks for binoculars
This is what Army calls Panonods, Binocular Panoramic NVG. But this FOV can never be of Binod, itโs too big for a Binod and is of Tonboโs BNVD-P Pano NVG.
So u mean to say garuds have requirement of quads
Thatโs what the Tender says not me
So it turns out I was right guysโWide Field of Viewโ
Yes, GarudsThese are from a Garud display of arms, am I right??
Hopefully the need for NVG mounts force them to adopt better helmets
From RFI to deliveries in weeks seems more than a little unlikelySo it turns out I was right guys

These are GarudsPara SF imo does not have a need for Quads as they go on long distance ops, and these Quads are heavy and more heavy with the counter weights. Possibly Para SF guys part of AFSOD might find it useful but the one which will be under army i doubt.
When was the RFI released? From RFI to deliveries in weeks seems more than a little unlikely
@Haldilal didn't @tusharfoxtrot post it first, unless @Hariharan_kalarikkal posted it before on another thread?
Ya'll Nibbiars mujhe kaha pata tha I got this from @Hariharan_kalarikkal Nibba.
Second half of 2021 but it's disappeared from the IAF's website now. When was the RFI released?
