I read about that when Obama came in a press conference and said 'We are making Iron Man', i still remember because my friend and I were discussing about this particular liquid armour and iron man type exoskeleton, we never searched but had an idea that this liquid armour is probably something like 'Newtonian Fluid' which normally is in liquid form but when experiences some external force, it gets hard but there were some issues that time about how to manage these. Anyway, that was around 5 to 6 years ago, i was a schoolkid then.

Yes 10.5 is the sweetspot, but its not like you cant use longer barrels in cqb, look at the URGI uppers.
i am just saying is it takes a certain velocity for 5.56 to fragment so longer barrel is not a bad thing.

That's right, except for one little detail. 11.5" is the sweet spot, as it is the lowest you can go without compromising the dwell time for a DI 5.56mm. 10.5" for SSP. URGI's CQB upper has a 11.5" barrel. Even SEALs are adopting an 11.5" upper.
