Most SF officers in the West use SF as a stepping stone in their career that’s true.
Well that is absolutely not true.

But the Indian army seems to have a serious problem in the inflexibility of their officer class, how many non-infantry officers have become COAS?
This is an abject prejudicial and flasehood you have stated and reflecetion of a self made image your imaginary idea has made in your mind. It shows either you do not know the facts or your preloaded mind would not allow you to look into facts.
The COAS is selected amaonghst Lt Gens (Army Commanders) who have commanded operational formations Corps and Commands being General Cadre. There are many other factors like age and residual service which implies a reservation for NDA entry .
Firstly Infantry and Armour are the only "Supper Night" general cadre. All other Supporting Arms - Artillary, Engineers, Signals and AD are privildged to have their reserved Corps cadres with adequate vacancies in Brig to Lt Gen ranks, They can also opt for General Cadre which they do not as avaenues to climb up in their own cadre vacancies are far better than being in general cadre. All these have seperate selection boards for Brig to Lt Gen ranks,
There have a total of 27 COAS So far, Out of them following were non infantry -
General Maharaj Rajendrasinhji Jadeja, DSO 2nd Lancers (Gardner's Horse)
General General Jayanto Nath Chaudhuri, OBE 7th Light Cavalry
General Paramasiva Prabhakar Kumaramangalam, DSO, MBE Regiment of Artillery
General Om Prakash Malhotra, PVSM Regiment of Artillery
General Arunkumar Shridhar Vaidya, PVSM, MVC, AVSM 9th Deccan Horse
General Viswa Nath Sharma, PVSM, AVSM, ADC 16th Light Cavalry
General Sunith Francis Rodrigues, PVSM, VSM Regiment of Artillery
General Bipin Chandra Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, ADC 64th Cavalry
General Shankar Roy Chowdhary, PVSM, ADC 20th Lancers
General Sundararajan Padmanabhan, PVSM, AVSM, VSM Regiment of Artillery
General Deepak Kapoor, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, ADC

This somehow, more or less, correctly reflects the number of officers each Arm cadre hold on their roles with disadvantage Infantry and advantages Armoured Corps. Let us look at the ratios of cadre strength of the officers between Infantry, artillery and Infantry ... It would work out like 1:3; 7 between AC, Artillery and Infantry. But that does not get reflected that way in COAS we had so far. Infantry has been the castout.
However, such an objective piece would not appeal to your wrong ideas and you have decided to paddle what pleases your mind.

Get well soon Bhai...

It should also be taken into account that comparably there are very very few SF officers so the numbers game favours conventional officers rising up the ranks inherently
Even if All SF officers are made Lt Gens still some others will be there as Lt Gens. What do we do then? Kill all others to ensure that only SF officers are Lt Gens in the Army. What kind of irrational and absurd outlook is this.

For base guarding and PT it’s unlikely you’d use your Gucci gear anyway.

in their mock drills across India they seem to have their top quality gear, see Pathankot too
Base Guarding in Northern India is one of the most important things in India as per our threat.

Countless attacks have been carried out on bases.

And operators will wear what they have. Its like saying they will wear the shitty gear just coz they think its not important.

There are many other loopholes i wont be discussing about NSG.Hope they catchup with other similar units and their training style soon.

A fresh news report says that the Indian startup Tonbo supplied the helmet-mounted NVGs used in the 2016 Surgical Strike.
Does anybody have credible info about which model was used?

Also, the following model of Tonbo’s weapon sights were used during the surgical strike:

This is significant because, AFAIK, Tonbo doesn’t make the classic-styled single-tube helmet-mounted NVG, which means that the NVGs used in the 2016 Surgical Strikes were either 2-tube/2-sensor or 4-tube.

The following are the helmet-mounted NVGs made by Tonbo as per their website:

Highly unlikely. Considering the fact that Indian sof still use single tube nvg's.
Fun question
What's taking them so long to procure the BNVD P😡😡😡. They're indigenous, plus they're less costly, and they're effective.
Even considering the dual tube variant will provide a significant boost to their capabilities.

They could have been bought already. Once pocured it could take anywhere from 6m -1.5 years of training with new kit to put it in an operational environment

And recently there was also a report that the army was procuring BNVDs along with the Mk48 LMG and SCAR rifles.

What you’re saying is almost a non-sequitur. (no offence intended; I am just stating a matter of fact:))

Yes, Indian SOF still use 1-tube NVG, most of the time. But that doesn’t prove that they don’t have 2-tube (or, maybe, even 4-tube) NVG.

What I proved in my post up there is that it’s highly likely that the NVGs used in the 2016 Surgical Strikes were either 2-tube/2-sensor or 4-tube. This is simple OSINT. And, what I am waiting for is someone pointing out that, maybe,
1) ‘Tonbo does make the classic 1-tube NVG but they haven’t listed it on their website’ or, maybe,
2) ‘Tonbo paid that news agency to advertise the awesomeness of their NVG’.

Option 2) is unlikely because, AFAIK, Tonbo has supplied equipment to the US SOCOM and a few other countries too. This fact is sufficient to advertise the awesomeness of their products to customers, including the Indian Army. And — if a YouTube interview by ET Now is to be believed — Tonbo has indeed used this fact to advertise their products to our Army.

Option 1) may be correct, or maybe not. I don’t know. That’s what I am waiting to hear about, from people on this thread who know more than me about Tonbo.

If option 1) is proven false, another fact will be implied somewhat true —> the Indian Army does keep modern equipment for ultra-sensitive spec-ops which it can’t afford to goof up.

Off topic post.
Mexico's president visited a place which is known to be a cartel's stronghold. In turn the cartel released this propaganda video.

Independent - Mexican drug cartel shows off uniformed troops with military weapons and armoured vehicles in video
Alot of those are ex Columbian, guatamalian, mexican special forces themselves
That's actually los Zetas cartel. Founded after 40 GAFE operators defected in 1999. Trained by US and Israeli SOF, most of them are dead now.

This is not los Zetas, this is footage of CGNJ cartel (Jalisco New Generation Cartel (Spanish: Cártel de Jalisco Nueva Generación))

I was reading an article on SOFREP. Latam military/SOF are starting to parmeate across the cartels now. Including MS18. This includes cartels now seting up inteligence arms etc

This is how the IRA, Hezbollah etc operate as well. They have ambitions/ and actually do control vaste parts of territory
