Sri Lankan Army Special Forces Passing out Parade. Even as a Small Nation with meager resources Sri Lanka has done a lot of work on there Armed Forces and there Respective Special Forces.
They literally fought a civil war so obviously there’s a lot of emphasis placed on security forces but that said I’m not and never have been overly impressed by the SL security forces

After those church attacks a few years back they totally botched the arrest sending in seemingly amateurs and allowing the terrorist cell to explode multiple suicide vests

frankly they’d have been better off calling for India to send in the NSG

The only thing I take from this video is they have nice modern looking uniforms and their COAS has the same model of car as India’s PM

I agree. Mindless butchery is not rocket science not does it require alot of skill. Then again this is what happens when you get SSG trained

Some Supressed AR15s with 11/11.5inch barrells are effective till 250ms in the hands of a skilled shooter. There was a fantastic marine corp study released on the effectiveness of using Supressed carbines if rolled out unit wide

Agree with what you are saying 100%. But a number of implications with your statement Specially around optics and comms (night fighting and battlefield awerness) in stealth fighting

Realistically, I would not engage a target beyond 50 meters in a covert op with poor passive night vision as going "active" would increase my 'vulnerability' in a suitably opposed environment. Likelihood of having 'Taliban' sans NVG/NVDs in Indian context is less. Have seen people hit a target accurately with a 9 mm

Of course, tactical situational awareness relies primarily on the primary data 'fed' by the spotter/overwatch and disseminated to the team. We face the same challenges in tactical system update in course of actual final 'thrust' as do other countries' units.

I am not familiar with the study you aver to, will try and familiarize myself with it when do have the time. But broadly speaking, I am all for suppressed weapons.

Well I am certainly not bluffing about this, but I happened to read it in an article published for the newly raised Paratrooper regiment in ITBP.
But there is a also a reason for a fact that, ITBP remains the only CAPF to have a regiment like that, so I think only for one thing to act as a deterrence against the Chinese preemptively same as the SFF Paratroopers!

Incorrect.
They are not a back up of SFF.

Maybe our dude here loosing his mind over the predicament situation of our SF operators😁
Sadly fanboys have become so desperate they have started to project way beyond reality

heck in the film URI the actors had better NVGs and imitation plate carriers than the guys they were imitating.

Because

Because they along with Afghan forces are funded and equipped fully by USA.
I was waiting for this response

So India, a nation that has put orbiters around Mars, that has designed and built its own SSBNs, that produces its own fighter jets and helicopters needs the Americans to tell them they should buy improved gear for SFs? This is highly insulting to the Indian SF community, do you think they aren’t capable of Identifying their needs and writing tenders?

India has also been fighting an insurgency and terrorist problem decades before Iraq but what does it have to show for it? Where are the super specialist units? Where is the specialist training/tactics/equipment that has flowed from this experience?

if all that’s missing according to you is American handholding then India may as well apply to be the 51st state of the USA

you are right thats just a shameful excuse tbh, India which has a rich tradition of warfare lacks modernization , what a shame. Least they can do is base themselves off Nato standards, Chinese do the same....small Nordic countries have such a highly equipped SFs

"Dude".🤨

I very much doubt am in that age bracket or stage of life to be referred as such. But anyways.

So, I re-read your post. I shall take the liberty of quoting it here:

Taking the same in context, apparently I seem to have still not got around to the context, I admit, what makes you make the above statement, if I may know?

Secondly, with your response above, to my post as below:

I shall surely like to know the difference between a carbine and a battlefield rifle as per your perception. I clearly mentioned a specific barrel length i.e. 20 inches as the general criteria. Further, M4 is a carbine version of the M16A2.

Also, what are your views on the advent of the term "Assault Rifle" and the reported mistranslation of the term from German Sturmgewehr or "Storm Rifle" (StG-44 of Wehrmacht)?

Now coming specifically to what I perceive to be your point here. Why would forces seek a smaller length barrel weapon only to be suppressed thereby negating the advantage the relatively longer barrel affords in terms of greater accuracy and higher KE?

In a covert operation, I would rather have a primary weapon that gives me accuracy out to 50 odd meters (in dead of the night with poor passive illumination) which is silenced and affords me a 'quiet stand off range' (relatively) and a secondary weapon (a handgun) silenced, which affords me the luxury of using it in close proximity. (purely my opinion)
I believe the term you were looking for @ALBY is a "short barrel carbine", a further shortened version of a weapon which in of itself is a carbine.

Like a Daniel Defense MK18 or a HK416D 10" variant.

Really wish our SFs would adopt such platforms....and not just them but the VBSS teams of Navy/ICG as well.

Me ole eyes perhaps....but those chaps look definitively Russian to me...!
The ones with black uniform are definitely Golden Division and the odd one with the multicam may be golden division or another unit (don't know how it works over there).
Note the Iraqi flag on his chest.
Here's a documentary on these guys.

I will have to say, very very professional (albeit very undisciplined and irritable in some aspects).
