Everyone here takes immense pride in our armed forces and like every organization it has its drawbacks and plus points.some members on this forum are critical of our forces because they have had members of family in the services and they have seen the developments from up close. We have EVERY right to demand best for our forces and NO we can never be equal to those brave men of steel who serve the country but this cannot be the reason for not being able to point out their faults. Lastly, members like @COLDHEARTED AVIATOR sir and @rkhanna sir have always been critical of the equipment but some of the best stories of our sf have also been narrated by them. The point of a forum is to discuss and debate not to mindlessly praise everything. Pls let's put this discussion to a stop🙏🙏🙏

Apples and oranges, is this their diving kit? Are these over the beach operations? Have we ever seen them operating in the water (wet) with any of the equipment above?

They are meant to be a NAVAL SF and yet their actual maritime warfare capabilities seem to be the most backwards.

It's not out of line, this isn't how any decent Navy SF should be operating today, where are their plate carriers? Helmets? Comns? They don't even have spare ammo, 30 rounds and then what? hand to hand fighting?

This is the problem I see again and again with Indian SFs, they aren't training to fight, they are training based on what they perceive a commando is- running around screaming "COMANDOOOO" and hitting each other with sticks. When they emerge out of the water and are engaged the enemy's rounds will cut through them, the ones that are left alive will be useless after they've fired the contents of their sole magazine and they can't even communicate with each other except by hand signals

This team could have been from the 1980s, literally nothing has changed in the last 40+ years, unreal.

MARCOs:

But but, they save their good equipment for ops, this is just a demonstration, yea right.

The AK is so good that's why no top line navy SF uses it for over the beach ops? This spray and pray AK with no sights is going to give them an edge?

If you want to get a mission done you ask Western SFs, if you want to get a Bollywood imitation of a Special Forces mission, look to Indian SFs.

Oke found the post.
On same page this abingdonboy guy says he has been on forum for 10 years, and since 10 years only the state of Indian SF groups has been the same with no difference, so he is cynical and all now.

Some have been longer on different boards, when it comes to SF many don't realize it's going to take a long time. 10 years is but a fart in the wind. Keep in mind it's the same country that wanted IAC Vikrant commissioned by 2015. Sadly, it's not the way it works.

Yeah, please tell that to the Ruskies.
Comparing to Russia or US won't help one bit, India is India. We do things at our own pace and the are a myriad ways a procurement plan can go shit. It's a minor miracle when something actually comes together in India. For some context, from the time of Naresh Chandra Task Force's recommendation for a Special Ops Command in 2011, it took till September 2018 for it to be realized. MRCA process originally started in 2007, it took 12 years for the first aircraft to arrive.

That is just a pathetic outlook. Next time when your bike falls into a pothole and you break your neck, be sure to tell yourself India is India, and move on silently not even questioning anything.

Yes we know India is India and what our procurement system, economic restraints, and bureaucracy is like. But the reason why that doesn't mean we should just ignore or avoid pointing out any shortcomings is because we have already seen programs much more complex than that go through to some degree (infantry modernization for example). The problem we're facing is of a more peculiar nature that require more nuance to understand that telling yourself India is India.

It doesn't involve bureaucracy at all - most of the stuff that's necessary (barring few expensive items) can be procured within the battalion's expenditure allowances or via emergency funds. Comparing these simple stuff to $10 BILLION programs like Rafale or deep-rooted institutional reforms is nothing but idiocy.

Nothing has been realized. We don't have any SF command neither are we poised to get one in near future. What we're getting is basically a new SF unit but with personnel drawn from all services.

I sleep comfortably.
I doubt that, knowing people call Indian SF Bollywood commando seems to irk you so much you spew nothing but filth for dozens of posts

Just asking, say a soldier is commissioned in an infantry battalion and after 2 years of service undergoes the process and becomes a Para SF. So after serving for, say 12 years in the SF can he return to his parent unit? If yes which beret and shoulder tabs would he wear, the maroon and para or the ones which infantry wear?
