Did this encounter really need Para SF? I don't really know the conditions or situation but Para SF to blast a truck with grenades seems a bit far fetched.

My guess would be intel based op. The forces knew that there was going to be an attack, and were dealing with trained terrorists, and hence called in Para SF in case of worst case scenario. And they were nearby. Nagrota is where 15 Corps HQ is, if I'm not mistaken. Was definitely going to be an Uri style attack..

U can differentiate between para SF and CRPF by Their cammo. Green/white is CRPF, green/brown para SF. Most of the SF operators are wearing exfils and a few wearing patka. This variation was seen in nagrota op conducted in January. Interesting...

but don’t let that distract you from the pathetic state of the other SF teams deployed to the site, they look like their equipment is falling apart or a Middle Eastern militia, some of them are wearing freaking sneakers and bandanas ffs and once again no two are wearing the same camo

un-freaking-believable that the most elite soldiers in the Indian army are in this state in 2020, god knows what is going on inside this community but it’s a sickness.

It’s up to the local commander’s discretion. They are the ones that call for SF interventions, the SF ready teams do not decide where they go

there must have been something relatively serious about this incident that meant the local RR commander sought out SF assistance

You can see across multiple Indian elite units these days the focus that is being given to strength training and operators these days are noticeably bulkier today than they were a decade back.

I remember when these discussions were had before many of the ‘we are the best’ crowd assured us that the leaner physique was more suitable for Indian conditions and Indian units. Another example where Indian units are playing catch up with the West

I don't know why but I have a gut feeling that this 1st guy with bandana is same who was in Pampore operations in Feb 2016. The 9 PARA SF team was in Pampore along with 10 PARA. So I think these guys are from 9 PARA SF including those who were involved in January ops in Toll plaza.
