BONUS :

Found this beautiful Russian lady's Ultra HD pic today.

The AK203s sold to India won’t come with any accessories (no sights or pistol grips) and will likely have those old style steel AK mags not these polymer ones.

They will be as basic as it gets.

Simply use the FAB and TONBO kits. Excellent quality and availability!

Doubt that will happen. Moding 20 year old AKs is one thing. Moding brand new guns with third party kit will void any OEM warranties and guarantees.

India will end up buying the Mod Kits from Russia only. and just like the Vik / MKI / T-90s they will continue to fleece us.

pistol grip, extendable butt, p-rails and compensator/ flash hiders are the basic improvements of 203 over its predecessors. So these things are must. Yes, we need to wait to see what kind of sights IA is choosing or going solo without any sights.

Difficult as the entire procurement is de-linked...the rifle, accessories and ammo are all individually procured with separate and unlinked processes. When IA buys the rifle itself the only requirement is that it have "compatibility" with various accessories but the actual accessories are not procured together. The 203 will come out basic and probably a few years down the line they "might" get the various grips, sights etc. Until then...iron sights it is

Actually the main add on Mod are the picatinny rails on the guy . Accessories are always third party OEM.

If the AK203s come with rails it would be a big plus

Yes correct.
The foldable stock, extended rails, compensator and the grip are a basic part of the rifle itself now. There is no reason to believe they will be absent from our purchase. Otherwise, it isn't the 203 that we are buying but the 103.
Sights and other attachments probably won't come with the rifle but.

Mounting a sight and pistol grip isn’t going to void any warranty.

My point is that this deal is as basic a scam it gets, the geniuses in the IA that make these decisions neither understand nor care about such trivial matters as making their soldiers more combat effective. In their minds a new rifle is a force multiplier and that they should be happy that they’ve got something “new”.

You see units in India modifying their AKs with pistol grips, sights, flashlights, pistol grips etc but AK203 will come out of the box without any of these and the IA has ZERO plans to order any such accessories for the 203s.

1 step forward, 2 steps back as ALWAYS for the Indian armed forces.

Soldiers in 2030 are going to be running around with basic rifles with zero modifications or add-on capabilities when infantrymen in the early 2000s have had all such toys as part of their standard issue.

Spot on.

And we can see what a joke this is with the 716 deal- Gucci weapons that will come in the most basic configuration possible- iron sights, no pistol grip, no tactical flashlight, IR/laser designator etc etc

Clearly no one in positions of power have a clue. My guess is in about 10 years the separate requirement (currently at RFI stage only) MAY be inked to bring basic accessories like sights for the 716s, the 203s May never get any such comprehensive deal, probably just ad-hoc procurements here and there based on local unit commander’s personal funds.

The IA wanted the cheapest possible new rifle and they found it-203, that’s all they are about- not making soldiers make combat effective. They consider their job done now.

Not really. What good are p-rails if you don’t mount anything on them?

The buttstock has nothing to do with the pistol grip. The AK-200 series has a pistol grip as its default configuration.
Correct but 203s doesn’t have pistol grip as default.

NOPE!

The above picture has MARCOs use a hodgepodge of sights on their AK 103s.

These are US made EOTech Holographic Sights on the AK 203. The TONBO sights can easily be used substituted here since rail configuration is universal.

Troops at the frontlines will already have an FAB kit and can mix and match as per their convenience.

Assuming rails are universal, these parts can be adapted to SiG 716 as well.

All details here. Check it out.
Clearly mentions pistol grip. Unless people are confusing it with the additional handguard grip.

Why are you pointing it out for this deal? When we are using a rifle that has to be stripped upside down, just to add a UBGL. The fore grip and sights will never be provided by the OEM. Ofcourse you have to pay more for them. If I want to sell a gun, I will sell a gun. I don't care about the bells and whistles you want. Thats your duty to get them.

I think the point is they could have procured it AS PART OF THE SAME DEAL , instead of again going through the process of procuring sights separately ! I bet some babus in MoD wanted another separate deal to earn more kickbacks :mad2:

I do not think every gun would be fitted with optics. Optics would be only issued to mission critical Frontline troops. Average jawan will only use Iron sights.
