We had lost two Para SF guys in the last 20 days first one was from the Myanmar border action and second one from Shopian CT ops. Om shanti

This recent death is a very murky one. He allegedly shot himself and committed suicide. Army may be trying to brush it under the rug.

A paratrooper is the last person who will be careless about firearm safety. PTSD amongst troopers needs to be seriously addressed.

Absolutely we always hear about US soldiers suffering from PTSD , infact every soldier serving in active combat may suffer from PTSD , do we have any mechanism to help Soldiers cope with it in India?

Nope. Psychology is not a science which is well received here.

I find that yoga, meditation and breathing exercises can be introduced to the daily regimen to reduce stress.

I do not know what is your purpose of bringing out the cause and circumstances of the that soldiers death.
However, every type of casualty in an operational area is supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. Be it being buried in an avalanche, bing washed down by a flood or a vehicle accident - all deaths are sacrifices.

And it needs to be treated accordingly. If there is any thing murky in it, it is murkiness of an operational area directly attributable to military service.

PTSD is not a syndrome that develops in a bed, or due to reasons other than military amongst soldiers in a society like India. Indian soldiers generally do not suffer from PTSD and when they do they get over it due to close knit social order called family who meets his emotional needs. It is more often than not the breakdown in family safety net like problems at home that leads to such incidents.

This needs further investigation. At least an internal inquiry.

PTSD develops over many years even. Try listening to this at full volume with headphones.

COAS'S BGs .............................................................
Outdated and ridiculous spectacle today.

Using special forces operators for personal security duties is an utter waste of the talents of these operators.

Either give this responsibility to the CISF or, if the army is unhappy about then train up the required number of military police (MPs) for the role.

In the 90s and early 2000s COAS uses SF protection detail only in forward/troubled areas. Think around that time we started copying the Paki look of having SSG every where. Ofcourse we didn't realise why the Pakis do it. - because those are the only troops a paki general will trust lol

I am sorry PTSD in Indian troops is very real. Completely misdiagnosed and often leads to massive stress on social/family structures

PTSD is a result of constant taking of human lives and seeing your own comrades / brothers dieing . Nothing to do with how "secure" your family background is.

I have met enough soldiers with PTSD . Own family members are suffered.

fake news. don't quote Kashmiri news outlets. he was killed during de-induction from Anantnag encounter.
De - induction aka weapon discharge. This particular case is worrying. It's one thing to have battle casualties or natural calamity or accident related casualties.

It's a completely different thing to have fragging and suicide in the ranks. US Army and USMC have to deal with gangs in their units and even aforementioned circumstances.

Thus we need better stress management and more moral/religious guidance for the troops. Some kind of Chaplain type unit would be good.
