Exclusive Report: India's deadliest force is Marcos commandos
I posted list of several videos of various indian special forces and here is the you tube link https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=indian+special+forces+sabru+foxtrotHi Wolfpack, there used to be many videos like that Sabru Foxtrot guy who made short videos. Do you have a list of bookmarks of such videos, specifically Indians who make such videos?
I think they use the Sterling only to train muzzle awareness and such.Indian Navy VBSS team, shockingly they are still using the f*cking Sterling 9mm!

For argument sake, let's assume this is the weapon they intend to use in real ops.
Whats the problem? It is small and accurate for the close spaced. It can also be fired from the hip unlike other firearms.

The difference in Accuracy with a more modern SMG, say the Mp5 isnt so significant as to cause a huge difference."Whats the problem? It is small and accurate for the close spaced"
The Reliability is great. The Accuracy is mediocre at best. With the Magazine Sticking out at a right angle imaging assaulting through the close quarters of a Ship.
Still yet to see a single picture of an IN VBSS team with weaponary other than the Sterling 9mms.I think they use the Sterling only to train muzzle awareness and such.
They have been seen before with Mp5, Amogh, regular AKMs and even Tavors I think.
Look at the rest of the gear. Pretty much on Par with other western special units.
Its only prudent that they'll take Up to date weaponry to combat as well.
The fact is, it is a highly outdated weapon with poor ergonomics/handling qualities (what you need in the tight confines of a ship is a magazine sticking out of the side lol!) , a heavy weight, poor accuracy, no provision to fit sights, flashlights or other accesories (a neccesity in the close quarters of ships). For argument sake, let's assume this is the weapon they intend to use in real ops.

Still not convinced these are IN VBSS (would love to be proven wrong), everything screams MARCOs.PS - I have seen a number of pictures of Indian VBSS / Naval Infantry teams with MP-5s and Tavors as well. (sometimes the pictures get passed around as MARCOS)
For example This one
IN VBSS Teams during Malabar 2016. VBSS teams are native to and assigned to a Ship. So I assume the latest and shiniest capital ships in the IN would have the best gear.

It's embarassing we are justifying using a WWR era weapon in 2016. It would cost almost nothing to get a more modern weapon (ICG are usign AMOGH, IN VBSS can follow suit or go for the Tavor as the MARCOs have). This is just endemic of the backwards mindset that still exists within the MoD and certain quarters of the military, it is not just embarassing but it highlights how the security of the nation is not taken seriously.

MARCOS always wear an arm patch, whenever in BDUs.Still not convinced these are IN VBSS (would love to be proven wrong), everything screams MARCOs.
Crappy paki MP5. Easily get better variants from OEM. BTW the new helmets are rocking it!Yep,those are marcos .
Four Indian naval ships including two stealth frigates and elite Marine Commandos (Marcos) will take part in a trilateral maritime exercise Malabar-16, starting from Friday, that will see India, US and Japan playing war games in seas off Japan.http://www.financialexpress.com/ind...s-japan-to-play-war-games-from-friday/278235/
VBSS team have indian navy patch on them:
Whoever does the acquisition for personal combat gear for Indian navy does a good job,to give the credit where it is due. However ,they seem to have uncanny affection towards sterling .(which is pathetic IMHO)
They should have combination of sub machine guns, sniper rifle, assault rifles and lmg. For sub machine guns, they can buy POF mp5 ,a good gun overall:,I would have loved to say msmc or anamika or whatever but ARDE keep on designing for decade and then comes with low quality shit.Regarding assault rifles ,keeping the nature of their task and environment in which they operate nothing else except tavor ,even though it's expensive but IMHO there is no alternative to a good bullpup for their requirement.
One more pic of marcos ,with similar medic patch:
It was a sarcastic dig at OFB and ARDE.Crappy paki MP5. Easily get better variants from OEM. BTW the new helmets are rocking it!
Doesnt necessarily mean that its a good weapon. We already use MX4. Even SWAT teams have them now.
