Its 1B1 with laser pointer for training purposes, Galatz is gud option but offer not much a edge ..

SVD is primary marksman rifle in Indian Army, No replacement of it anytime soon ..

Sniper with INSAS and laser pointer?

Is Sniper Galatz effectively an alternate for SVD? Pros/Cons of both
@Kunal Biswas @Bornubus
Is there any plan to replace Dragunov ?What rifle is used for long range precision shooting by IA?

One question .......
Watch that last image of dragunov inside bunker at LOC .
It looks like , when the round will be fired the cocking handle will be restricted with that scope holder , ejection and cocking both are not looking possible !!!

Can someone tell me what is that ?? And how it will work ??

It's not the scope holder. It's the front cover for the sight.

SVD is a good marksman rifle,but now better rifles are available in the market.So ,I think it's about time Indian army goes for a new marksman rifle.I would prefer a good foreign rifle, made in India through Joint venture with a Indian private company.

Two rifles of my choice:

1 Kalashnikov SVK;

2.SIG716 Gen2 DMR

Ishapore
2A1 rifle is very gud option for sniper use, We are reinventing the wheel here which is not really necessary ..
Now I was always in support of using Ishapore 2A1 for sniping purpose. If chambered for Winchester 300, it would be a great rifle for 1000m mark. All you need to work upon is its ergonomics. BTW, what is this another rifle? The gun got looks....... :)

Its a Ishapore 2A1 rifle, modified by user ..

That design is not so hideous when one holds it, I felt its better balance than SVD ..
Now look how a little imagination could turn a 100 year old platform into a chic modern design. That's what I always emphasis on. Instead of designing new items each and every time, we should learn to capitalize on our proven system.
Gine that user a award for his thinking and approach........... :yo:
