@Ray you are sharing Doctrine, Training and Employment of the US Army. What about IA. Very little about it. AFAIK Indian Army has more "Designated Marksmen" than Snipers. Putting on a Ghillie Suit doesnt make a Sniper.

How many Marksmen are there typically in a squad? Regiment? Battalion?Mainly to pick off Enemy Sniper or MG post or Enemy Santri at longer ranges they also provide fire support when needed from longer ranges, Also their targets are usually the leaders / Leading Officer JCO etc, Once the leader is dead their is always confusion in troops which slow their reaction time..
In a Squad the role of a Marksman not Sniper is to provide fire at longer ranges..
Nope. It's Vidhwansak AMR.....The heavy gun is south african NTW-20 anti-materiel

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denel_NTW-20
Denel Land Systems was contracted to supply weapon systems for the Indian Armed Forces, including anti-materiel rifles and self-propelled howitzers. However, following allegations that it had paid kickbacks to secure a deal for anti-materiel rifles, Denel was black-listed by the government. Subsequently, the Ordnance Factory Tiruchirappalli (OFT), in association with the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), began developing an indigenous antimaterial rifle called Vidhwansak, which borrowed heavily from the Denel NTW-20. The development of Vidhwansak was completed in November 2005
