Indian 'Shoe' incident

The guy had gonads though. Jarnail Singh. Gotta give him that. It takes guts to throw a shoe at the Home Minister.

IMO, the guy went there with the sole aim of throwing the shoe at the PC, so it is well thought out, pre-meditated incident. I think he must have had the backing of some ppl. of course, after all that, it still takes guts to do that.
but it was a calculated risk.

This issue will be the graveyard of the congress because it blasts a hole in the moral high ground they take vis-a-vis BJP. As the memories are stirred, it would remind people that the Congress had its own black moments- moments for which it hasnt atoned yet.And Narendra Modi is on the same pedestal as Rajiv Ghandhi.

They are fair? Yes, they might be only when they finish the judging a case. I had the impression that our judicial system is inept and the legal procedure is so time and money consuming that common people are weary of it.

Most cases take a long time to settle no doubt though.. doesn't make them unfair..
Indian legal system is the very foundation of our stability..

IMHO, on the contrary congress lost face with most. This incident stirred a hornet's nest for congress. It stirred the memory of anti-Sikh riot.

Most Sikhs have moved on... for proof see govts and elected reps of Sikh dominated areas all over India..

with this incident, Congress has not exactly lost face.. it has dropped the two offenders, fielding a Sikh PM (besides fielding a Sikh ancestry candidate for CMpost in Delhi which they won).. chances of Congress making a clean sweep in Delhi and causing an upset in Punjab are very likely post dropping of Tytler and Sajjan Kumar and declaring Manmohan Singh, to be the PM candidate..

Come to think of it,there was nothing brave about it.Paaji knew that the soft spoken PC will forgive you even you were to stand up and ring him on his right ear,moreover this is election season,when all sins are forgiven and magnanimity reigns.

One wonders if in his self proclaimed sense of neutrality,jarnail singh would have had the stomach to throw a shoe at the Jathedar of the Akal takht for declaring Indira's murderers as martyrs worthy of veneration or similar honor bestowed on the Air Kanishka bombers,the terrorists who got killed in Op Blue star(including Bhindranwale) and those others who had the blood of innocents on their hand(mostly Hindus,but many Sikhs too)

Such an act however may not be tolerated by the Akal Takht,Jarnail singh and his family could be excommunicated from the Khalsa and even be barred from entering any Gurudwara in the country and socially boycotted.Can Jarnail Singh's sense of justice stand the real test of neutrality and fairness.

I guess we'll never know
