What we need is better rails with less than 5 degree turn anywhere so that we may not have to slow the train too often. The other important thing is non coaxial or independent wheel unlike our present coaches made on co axial wheel. Third is reduction in weight which would allow train to travel at high speed without slow down. These are the reasons why Tejas train has higher average speed inspite of rajdhanis have better top speed.

2022 onwards MCF Raibareli will start manufacturing aluminium coaches capable of attaining speed upto 250kmph. South Korea will transfer the technology. Train 18 coaches are modified LHB coaches. Maybe we can see Train-20 after 2022 with these new coaches.
Was wondering what type of tech do Koreans have, could you share ot? coz afaik their high speed rail is based on French TGV..

Great news. We can improve overall utilizing of existing infrastructure by improving tracks, automation, higher power engines with better aerodynamic, low weight coaches, independent wheel on coaches , low weight aluminum coaches etc. Tracks are ver important. We should modify all tracks to handle atleast semi high speed trains in excess of 180 mph.

"Around 500 modern heavy duty Track Maintenance Machines along with track, signal and Overhead Equipment (OHE) maintainers have worked regularly for 10,749 machine days to complete overdue track maintenance of 12,270 km plain track, it said.

Ultrasonic flaw detection (USFD) of 30,182 km of track and 1,34,443 rail welds has been carried out with USFD machine."

While recently going through YouTube videos of (Israel Aerospace Industries) IAI,I came across a product by ELTA Systems. This type of system should be used on our train's to avoid accidents and improve safety.just recently we had horrific incident involving our poor hard working migrant workers who are solid backbone of our country during China unleashed Wuhan virus pandemic.each year scores of people and animals (even endangered wildlife) are killed on railway tracks.this type of system not necessarily have to be imported but could be made in India

The converted electric locomotive WAG-C3 delivers 10,000 HP against 2 X 2612 HP of the original diesel locomotives (92 percent more power).

Jul 10, 2020: Rlys rethinking plan to convert diesel locos into electrical; to assess tech, economic viability

The Railways had said in 2018 that it was working on a master plan to convert its entire fleet of diesel locomotives into electric ones, at less than half the cost of refurbishment of diesel engines.
But these diesel locomotives which are converted are very old and have around 5-6 years of life left. Upon conversion, they have a lifespan of upto 10 years more. We are exploring which is beneficial -- putting in money & converting these low horse power locos to get limited years of working vis-a-vis if we manufacture a new 10000hp locomotive with similar capacity. The assessment committee will provide a report by August15.

August 1, 2020: Condemn 2,500 Diesels ASAP, Make Indian 10/12hp Electric Locos by 2022: Ministry tells Railway Board
Plans of conversion of diesel locos to electric dropped. Excess units to be condemned, sold, exported or gifted away... As of 1st July 2020, Indian Railways operates two shy of 5,500 diesel locos maintained by 42 sheds. IR has a fleet of more than 7,000 electric locos as of 1st July 2020, 18 diesel locomotive sheds have already made suitable modifications and home approx 800 electric units.

The ministry has asked Board officials to use latest technology & produce 10000hp electric locos meant for 120 km/h freight and 200 km/h capable passenger services. Target for a prototype has been set for June 2022.

The move is part of the Railways' plan of a 100% shift to electric traction, thereby reducing its
fossil fuel consumption of about 2.83 billion litres per annum.

There is too much politics going on with train 18, ICF is suppose to manufacture it but politics was being played and RCF and MCF was trying to take over throwing ICF out of the game.

Train 20 is not going to come out, check out the video on how MCF made a contract with South Korea and transfer of tech will never be fully absorbed. One more bofors in making.

Watched both of the videos this morning. Sad to see how Babu's make hurdles in development. Train 20 is just gone.

Very unfortunate. We should pressurize our government to revive the project to make it happen by 2022.

main problem here is MCF train 20 was going to be made by ICF but due to the aluminium coaches TOT from South korea to MCF messed up every thing.

MCF was never going to produce train 20 they didn’t have the capability to produce train 18, forget about train 20. Even ICF didn’t have capability to produce train 20 as it was suppose to be lighter aluminium body.

the culprit here is MCF.
