This is the new dual-cab ZDM3 developed/modified by Parel Workshop. This has two cabs at the two ends of the locomotive, instead of a single cab in the middle, thus enhancing visibility in tight curves so common in narrow gauge (2' 6") routes.

Yeah, this all happened during my time in HP, these are not only good looking but powerful too..
But, Now days the Kalka-shimla rail are like commuter train than a tourist train..

Whatever i always find joy while traveling..

Wheel Slip or Creep control of EMD locomotives

This is an excellent demonstration of how Creep Control works. The paragraph below is the explanation of Creep Control and many thanks to the gentleman who has kindly uploaded this excellent video.

Superior AC traction system of EMD's WDG-4 locos wheel slip or creep control on display here on a mountain section in India called Braganza Ghat with 1 in 37 (2.7%) gradient. 4500hp WDG-4 (GT46MAC) comes with 16-710G3B prime mover and IGBT technology similar to SD70MAC locos. It was found that if the wheels are made to slip on purpose slightly more then ground speed, maximum tractive effort is achieved. This is made possible with the aid of computer controlled wheel slip or creep control by interpolating ground speed determined by ultrasonic doppler radar and the motor RPM input from the loco controls. Twin WDG-4 locos lead a heavy coal train assisted by triple WDG-4 bankers(helpers) at the rear.

Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla New BG Railway Line Project-On going Banihal Tunnel Water proofing

The work on the Railway line from Udhampur to Srinagar is in progress and its 95 percent of Udhampur to Katra stretch has been completed while as 30 percent of Katra-Qazigund stretch stands also completed. The project is schedule to be completed in two phases including Udhampur-Katra stretch in March 2012 and Katra-Qazigund stretch in December 2017.
