These state police guys almost look like NSG.
Yes, that’s how “lead by example” works.

For ex: if CBI shows that there is a demonstrable difference between their methods and state police methods, state police would adopt CBI crime solving methods at a fast pace.. right now there isn’t much difference except for jurisdiction.

Well no one should be surprised. Post 26/11 the NSG raised most of these units and since then has mentored them. Furthermore NSG has made
It their mission to train closer with them
On a regular basis so whenever there are mock drills in cities they ensure they train with the local
Police teams.

On top of that NSG runs training courses specifically for state police specialists and annual all-India special unit competitions.

Standardisation is still an issue tho.
Both in Police and NSG tho NSG is doing a lot better these days.
When I say standardization is I'm not only talking about weapons, I am also talking about the helmets, shoes the dress etc.
Still can spot Cricket helmets on policemen.

Irony is that compared with these units, the J&K SoG still looks like rag tag arab militia with plain Ak rifles most of which are either captured Type56s or NWFP made ones.

No doubt about it. Procurement is still clearly an issue

Yeah, just goes to show the joke that is JKP’s leadership.

Really JKP SOG should be equipped and trained along the lines of NSG or PARA SF today but instead they are what you have described.

J&K Police to procure modern equipment for security operations
The Jammu and Kashmir Police will procure various modern equipment such as under vehicle surveillance systems, deep search metal detectors and explosive detectors for security-related operations in the state.

The police department earlier floated tenders for procuring micro unmanned aerial vehicles fitted with night vision equipment for security, surveillance and detection operations in the state.

"We have invited tenders from original manufacturers or authorised dealers for supply of under vehicle surveillance system (UVSS), deep search metal detector (DSMD) and explosive detector (ED)," Assistant Inspector General of Police (Headquarters) Mubassir Latifi said.
Senior police officials said that there was a need to have these equipment for security drills including anti-militant operations, particularly in Kashmir Valley, in view of increasing militancy-related incidents.

The department will procure six UVSSs, 30 DSMDs and 10 EDs. The move is part of Director General of Police S P Vaid's focus on better equipping the force and improving its infrastructure, the officials said.
