Why Khaki colour at all? They could have gone with Blue or another colour.
I agree! Blue would have looked better...

Women police patrols in Rajasthan have blue uniform as shown below, similar to the attire of various American police forces like NYPD and the LAPD, and are fully equipped with arms, security equipment, first aid and other amenities besides motorcycles for patrolling the city....

Interesting can u please shed some more light on this.
as of now
The State List or List-II is a list of 61 items (Initially there were 66 items in the list) in Schedule Seven to the Constitution of India. The legislative section is divided into three lists: Union List, State List and Concurrent List.
if item 1 which is Public order (but not including the use of any naval, military or air force or any other armed force of the Union or of any other force subject to the control of the Union or of any contingent or unit thereof in aid of the civil power). is transferred to the concurrent list then this can be used as a loop hole for establishing the IFPS and not only that it can also closely sensitize the union government to the issues of the states face in law and order

Bhai please read one of my comments on a separate forum, the NIA originally was envisaged as a federal law enforcement organisation which could neutralise terrorists and organised crime elements anywhere in India, the original NIA bill drafted during the NDA I's period had these provisions and LK Advani would have seen to it that the bill would have been passed, future plans were to amalgamate the NIA with the IB. Unfortunately NDA I was voted out of power in 2004. Thereafter the UPA wanted to replicate a similar model by establishing the NCTC, but even the NCTC could never see the light of the day. Hence here we have an MHA as an impotent ministry which does not have the wherewithal to neutralise anti-national elements through the organisations under its control.

Actually our Homeland security model is flawed and outdated if you ask me the ministry of home affairs has many overlapping functions with that of the Ministry Of Defence so why not merge the two and create a single defence and Homeland security ministry this will end the duplication of many similar functions of the two Ministries I also think where we need Tu try hard unified border forces have a single border force will cut down on the Logistics and other issues

Law & Order is a state responsibility Can someone explain how Central is going to standardize uniforms for departments that don't work under it?

@F-14B Internal security is all MHA has. If you create a different ministry for it, MHA becomes pretty much useless.

MHA Is giving thousands of crores to states as part of modernisation funds.

In this case since centre is paying for it, MHA has a say in certain aspects of modernisation.

That makes sense. If left to the whims of megalomaniacs like Mayawati or Mamta, your humble thulla would never graduate from a 100cc bike and a lathi.

Yuck, that looks like private security used by banks. When Telangana state formed, and AP Police split to form Telangana State Police, there was a proposal by the newly-elected legislature that their uniforms will be made up of shades of blue, just like NYPD, to match the swanky new Toyota Innova police cruisers that were inducted just months after state formation. The new uniform proposal was quickly shot down by the DGP, his reasons were that any non-Khaki uniform looks too much like private-security, and doesn't instill fear or a sense of safety that the public associates with the police.

One of the other reasons khakhi is preferred is because those uniforms are not washed regularly. Sometimes they are worn for a week without washing for ranks below dy.SP ..

Any other colour uniform will look bad beyond the second day.

Khakhi will have to stay..

I can live Khaki or any other color uniform. What bothers me is the Big Belly of Indian Policemen. Why most of them are 6 month pregnant ? (LOL)
Seriously, Indian Policemen need a lot of lentils (Daal), Yogurt (Dahi) and Milk in their diet along with good amount of physical exercise to shrink the Pot Belly which gives them a lazy and stupid look.
Anyone over 36 inches of belly should be put on suspension until belly fat comes down below 36 inches.
Also, they should be trained to stand straight and not hunched.
