How come JK hasn’t been throwing all women SOG teams at the jihadis thus far?
JK has seen the reality of jihadis. Delhi police barring special cell hasn’t had any encounters with the animals that the jk police face there. They only can arrest sleeper cells and suicide bombers which are far less ruthless

The Delhi Police is acquiring Russian Dragunov sniper rifles to provide added security measures ahead of the G20 Summit. Skilled marksmen carrying them will be stationed atop high-end hotels and other critical locations around the city. Delhi Police expects to require between 70 and 100 rifles and will borrow them from either the army or paramilitary units. To ensure their effectiveness and accuracy, snipers will collaborate with around 50 spotters equipped with advanced night vision binoculars.

Heightened Police Presence: The number of police personnel on active duty will be significantly increased.

Strategic Checkpoints: Essential locations will feature checkpoints and barricades.

Random Checks: Vehicles and pedestrians will undergo random searches to deter potential threats.

Aerial Surveillance: The police are incorporating drones and other surveillance technology for comprehensive oversight.

Drill Exercises: Mock drills are being carried out to gauge the effectiveness of security protocols.

Traffic Management: To ensure seamless traffic flow during the summit, collaboration with the Delhi government is ongoing.

In preparation for the upcoming G20 Summit, the Delhi Police is acquiring Russian Dragunov sniper rifles , a move aimed at boosting security measures, said undisclosed sources in an interview with TOI. Skilled marksmen armed with these rifles will be strategically positioned atop high-end hotels in central Delhi , Aerocity, and other crucial spots across the city.Although senior officers have chosen to keep mum on the matter, reliable police insiders suggest that instead of purchasing these rifles outright, the police force might secure them on loan from either the army or paramilitary units. A basic Dragunov SVD rifle comes at a price of Rs 2-3 lakh, with costs potentially reaching Rs 5 lakh depending on preferred accessories. For the limited duration of the G20 Summit, Delhi Police anticipates the need for 70-100 rifles, as confirmed by insiders to TOI.Within the same TOI news report, sources at the Police Headquarters reveal…

Mumbai cops armed with rocket launchers, sniper rifles post 26/11: RTI
MUMBAI: Post 26/11 terror attacks, Mumbai cops' arsenal has been beefed up with advanced and sophisticated weapons.

These include rocket launchers, under barrel grenade launchers (UBGL), automatic grenade launchers (AGL), sniper rifles, mortars, projector grenades, corner shot weapons and cord-detonating explosives. That apart, cops have also got a large number of general weapons such as SLRs, AK-47s, Insas rifles, machine guns and stun guns.

This data has been procured by activist Chetan Kothari in response to a query under the Right to Information (RTI) Act.

Kothari said the quantity of weapons, of both Indian and foreign make, shows the Mumbai police force is prepared to combat any terror-like situation. "The main question that arises now is whether the force is well-trained to handle such weapons. Also, whether the weapons will work properly during emergency," he said.

Mumbai police spokesperson DCP Mahesh Patil said the department has been using sophisticated weapons post 26/11. "These weapons provide the force with an added edge to combat any terror-like situation. Experts from companies that deliver these weapons train the force in using them," said Patil.

The RTI query revealed the city police have 14 rocket launchers, 391 grenade launchers, 44 mortar, eight sniper rifles, 29,373 SLRs, 3,975 AK-47s and 3,916 Insas rifles and over 4,000 machine and stun guns.

The department also purchased 4,500 bullet-proof jackets in a span of 11 months, between March 2011 and January 2012.

Maharashtra state inspector general (law and order) Deven Bharti told TOI: "After 26/11, the state government purchased rocket and grenade launchers, snipers and other advanced weapons. These highly sophisticated weapons are used by special forces such as the Anti-Naxal Force and Force One in Mumbai. Even cops from other important metros have got such weapons."

A senior IPS officer, who requested anonymity, said the city police had faced flak for using outdated arms to counter terrorists in the 26/11 attacks. "These sophisticated arms have been mainly procured from the US and Germany.

The new weapons include rocket and grenade launchers, sniper rifles apart from MP5, MP9 and colt firearms, which were only used by paramilitary forces, are now also with the city police," he said.

Post 26/11, immediate measures were taken to deal with emergency situations by arming city police with new combat vehicles, state-of-the-art weaponry and commandos trained in latest technique. "We have ensured we get the best weapons for our men. We have procured a few and will get more in the future," former Maharashtra state director general D Sivanandhan had said in August 2009.

JK Police inducts corner shot pistol, 2 more modern weapon systems to enhance firepower
Jammu, Feb 17 (PTI) The Jammu and Kashmir Police has for the first time inducted three state-of-the-art weapon systems, including the made-in-India ‘Zen ShootEdge’ corner shot pistol, to strengthen its arsenal as it counters various security and counter-terror challenges in the Union territory.

Personnel of the force are undergoing training with the newly inducted Tavor X-95 and MP-5 rifles and the ‘Zen ShootEdge’ pistol, officials said, adding the corner shot pistol facilitates shooting around corners and over the top of walls without exposing the user.

“Recently, three new weapons were inducted into the force. The (police) force got these three weapons in which there is a corner shot weapon. There was a dearth of such weapons in the force,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kulbir Singh told PTI here.

He said it is necessary to modernise the force’s arsenal to meet and combat greater security and counter-terrorism challenges. “It is always expected that we upgrade our weapons. It has taken place in the past too,” Singh said.

“With these weapons… the efficiency and accuracy is very high and pinpoint. You can achieve your target within a few shots (in anti-terror operations),” the SSP said.

The corner shot weapon will protect members of anti-terror operation parties from coming in line of direct fire from terrorists in close-combat situations, which mostly take place in congested and populated areas of Kashmir, he said.

“When you have to go for a shot in a room (in a close-combat situation in anti-terror operations), you have to save yourself and neutralise or shoot (terrorist). There was a great need for this type of weapon,” the officer said.

The officials said training on these weapon systems have started for police personnel in some districts and weapons are being provided to the force in all districts and battalions.

Shortly, these weapons will be provided to all districts and battalions of the force,” the SSP said.

The corner shot weapon system also helps to fire accurately in dark and low-light conditions and facilitates firing from standing, kneeling, hip as well as lying positions. It can be fitted with a pistol such as a Glock 17, Glock 19 or a 9mm Browning for close-combat or covert operations, the officials said.

It is mounted with a high-resolution low-light infrared camera, infrared illumination, a red dot laser and a tactical torch.

The SSP said the efficiency of the Tavor X-95 weapon is very high. “We have also got modified AK rifles. Their firepower has been enhanced and they have faster firing speed. They have pinpoint efficiency and will help and strengthen our forces,” Singh added.

The Tavor X95, also called Micro-Tavor, MTAR, and MTAR-21, is an assault rifle, designed and produced by Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) as part of the Tavor rifle family, along with the TAR-21 and the Tavor 7.

The MP5, which is manufactured by the German Heckler and Koch company, is one of the most widely used submachine guns in the world and having been adopted by over 40 nations. PTI AB IJT

In a first, Jammu and Kashmir police to get American Sig Sauer rifles, pistols
In an attempt to modernise, the government has decided to equip Jammu Kashmir police with American Sig Sauer rifles and Sig Sauer MPX 9mm American-made pistols.

Srinagar: The Jammu Kashmir police will become the first police force in the country to possess the latest American weaponry.

In an attempt to modernise, the government has decided to equip Jammu Kashmir police with American Sig Sauer rifles and Sig Sauer MPX 9mm American-made pistols.

Sources said that the Jammu and Kashmir Police had recently invited global bids for arms procurement on the government procurement portal GeM (Government e-Market). He added that this elite police of the country will get 500 Sig Sauer 716 rifles and 100 Sig Sauer MPX 9mm pistols for SOG (special operations groups).

Experts believe that after getting this imported sophisticated weaponry, Jammu Kashmir police will be more aggressive against terrorism.

The description of the rifle reads, "The 7.62x51mm cartridges of the Sig Sauer-716 assault rifle is more powerful than the 5.56x45mm intermediate cartridges of INSAS (Indian Small Arms System) rifles used by the police presently and without a magazine, the 3.82 kg rifle can fire 650-850 bullets per minute and can prove to be an effective weapon in counter-insurgency operations due to its range of 500 meters.”

“In addition, the rifle is robust, modern and simple to use in any condition. Similarly, without the magazine, the 2.94 kg SIG MPX 9mm pistol can fire 850 bullets per minute. Both weapons are gas powered.”

Jammu Kashmir police is already equipped with new latest lightweight bulletproof jackets and bulletproof vehicles to fight terrorism in the union territory. This new weaponry is believed that it will help the police to face any tough situation, like room intervention of the budlings where terrorists hide and during long-range attacks on terrorists.

IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar without naming the weapons agreed that modernisation of police is on cards.
Vijay Kumar said, "Modernisation in Jammu Kashmir is going on a fast track. We are getting new weapons and drones for technical surveillance.” He added, “We also had combat dress and combat training, bulletproof vehicles and mine proof vehicles are being procured more so that operation will be more aggressive.”

Kumar said, “Most important is to generate input and Jammu Kashmir police is the one who generates 75% inputs nowadays. And for input gathering, many gadgets are given to police."

The Army has already given several sophisticated rifles to its soldiers guarding the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan and the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China.

In 2019, at the cost of around Rs 700 crore, India signed a contract with Sig Sauer for 72,400 'Assault Rifles'.

SWAT: Delhi Police's 'special force' which excels in urban warfare operations
New Delhi:

The Special Weapons and Tactic (SWAT) team comprises of Delhi Police's elite commandos who specialise in assault roles to counter terrorism.

Foundation and History:

When terrorists attacked Mumbai on November 26, 2008, the NSG commandos deployment in action got lagged by first 12 hours due to logistical issues. This was seen as some-kind of a security lapse in dealing with such attacks heads on.

With a view to augment the NSG to counter such terror attacks in major cities of the country, there was a proposal to have special forces aligned or under operational control of State Police forces.

The Delhi police were the first to set up a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team as part of their renewed counter-terror measures. Delhi Police's own SWAT (special weapons and tactics) commandos are a highly trained and well equipped team.

The unit, formed before the Commonwealth Games, is specially trained to combat urban crises in the capital as its training and combat skills are city-centric.

Training:

When the SWAT team was founded in 2010, it received training from NSG and former Army commandos, but now, after training at Delhi Police Training School in Jharoda Kalan (southwest Delhi), they learn advanced skills from Israel's counter-terror and intelligence unit, Mossad.

The SWAT training ranges from climbing multi-story buildings within seconds to rescuing hostages from a room located in the core of a hotel or a transport mode, bus or Metro.

The training includes advanced hand-to-hand combat moves from Krav Maga, a martial art developed by the Israeli army. The commandos also learn warfare techniques, such as identifying and defusing improvised explosive devices.

The unit has taken a leaf out of the combat tactics of the elite US Navy Seals (those who took out Osama bin Laden) who live by their operational credo fire two bullets to the head called a double tap. Delhi commandos are taught to finish each target with just one bullet. "Their motto is - one shot, one kill.

Weaponry:

Each commando is armed with an AK 47 assault rifle or MP5 submachine gun with at least four 30-round magazines, a Glock 17 or Glock 26 pistol, hand grenades, a wireless set, a 20-metre nylon rope, a pencil torch, a bulletproof helmet (patka for Sikhs), bulletproof jacket, flame torch, cutter and a commando dagger. Special knee and elbow pads are also worn for protection during stealth attacks.

With a force like Special Weapons and Tactic (SWAT) team in its ranks, Delhi Police is ever ready to combat any kind of terror attacks on the national capital territory.
