If you consider Chinese rag-tag militia as reserves, then please also consider BJP+RSS cadres on our side. They can easily overshadow the Chinese militia numbers.
Yes in our case, these militia is not armed, However, if a need arise, they can be.
After all, they helped IA with many logistical duties during 1962.
Rag - Tag or not, still they are trained atleast how to hold and shoot a gun!! We still live in denial, whereas they keep improving in every other aspect.

Not just british mate, even people like my family used to hunt thugs up until late 1800's.
How ?, No I mean if you could provide some background story or if you can tell about prevailing conditions in that era in your region.

Sorry, I got confused with CCP Militia. They are similar to party cadre like RSS/BJP cadre.

What Chinese militia is referred to here is an auxilliary force designed to support PLA/PAP.

We do many similar forces: NCC, state reserve police police, Indian reserve battalions etc.

IRBn is part of State Reserve Police Force, which the Chinese too have an equivalent force in every province!!

That is because they are given some amount of training. With the current gun laws in India, and Government apathy towards national security and patriotism, no militia like force is possible in India. Such forces need proper government backing. We do have manpower. Take any army rally in any remote corner of India, 1000s of candidate turn up. However vacancy is only for 10-15.
Some of them could easily have been trained who are very close to the cutoff of physical standard.

Sure, but the reason they are not getting those weapons is because of police, isn't it?
where ever automatic weapons are involved, police tactics evolved in those areas like Grey hounds, JKP etc..
Or it could be the incompetence of the Criminals themselves and Strong Anti-Gun Government Regulations from the very start. Criminals have smuggled millions of dollars worth of Drugs and other illegal Items right under the nose of the Police Force and got away many times before with it because of Police negligence, corruption and incompetence. Only top level Rich Criminals, Rich Gangs/Militant Groups and Foreign Government/Military funded Terrorist Groups can afford Firearms in India and Neighboring Countries this also plays an important factor in illegal Importing/smuggling of illegal firearms to India.

Almost every state in India has Police Special Units. it is better to prepare yourself before tragedy hits you. The world is changing and criminals and terrorists are getting better and better at what they do even in India so to counter them at local and state level Police Special Units are necessary. Many of these Police Special Units are severely under equipped by Modern Standards.

The Criminals and Terrorists faced on the IB are much much more dangerous than the average mainland Indian criminal with Indian Katta or Knife. These Trans National Criminals and Terrorists are way better armed and some are even partially trained in infiltration, evasion and explosives.

Its more due to Strong Anti-Gun Government Regulations since Independence. Even now it is pain in a** to get a gun license. Many District's DM would close the license application for months every then and now.
The only supply of guns to any gang gets limited to what's looted from security forces or the poor quality kattas from local self proclaimed gun smiths.

Police modernization in India has lagged behind other countries mainly due to the paltry budget allocation as well as corruption and government apathy. Hardly, any state has implemented the Supreme court recommendation of Police modernization issued in 2006. Of the meagre sum like 30-40 crores allocated to each state, a great portion of this amount goes towards corrupt babus, high ranking police officers and politicians. The rest of the amount goes towards buying patrol cars, installing CCTV, establishing new police stations.
Bottomline is very small amount of money is left for buying small arms. Even the small arms like Insas, AK variants and SLR which are brought are mainly for special armed police and not for regular police. These special armed police which do get these arms have a shortage of ammunition, non availability of firing ranges and hardly ever gets any chance to fire these weapons in practice.
